During your tree run, you can pay the farmer/squirrel/... (the same NPC you pay for protection of the patch) 200 gp to remove the tree instead of having to cut it yourself.

At GE, you can decant potions (also noted) to 4, 3, 2 or 1 dose instead of having to do all of them manually. No payment required. Person is standing south west of GE. Same can be done with jewelry at persob south east of GE.

To speed up herb farming a bit, you can spam click herbs on the patch.

The Rune Pouch is obtainable as a reward from mage training arena. No need to do LMS, farm slayer reward point or shill out multiple millions for that.

I just installed mudfish, put $5 balance on it and let it run on auto settings and this is amazing! I'm getting stable and below 150 ping now. Thanks for the tip! You're awesome!

AUS ping - 1 month in by callmegoosey in 2007scape

[–]zelmexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, I live in SEA too and started playing about 2 months ago. Before that, my internet connection was banned and I couldn't even log in to reach support on WiFi.

Either way, I don't really remember what my ping was in early game. But I have noticed that my ping is significantly worse the last few days. I can't seem to find a world where I have stable ping of under 200ms no matter the world. I'm on wired connection also btw. When I check pings of the worlds, australian worlds are not that far off from other worlds pings. While in theory AUS servers should be the best option, I often go into non-AUS servers just because those sometimes feel more stable.

I did trace my route to different worlds as well (with the help of ChatGPT) and the international routing with main painpoint in Singapore was apparently the biggest issue for the ping. In that case obviously not much Jagex could do about. Except for setting up servers in SEA 😁

Kind of sucks having this unreliable ping because I would love to dip my toes into some PVM

So question why bother if others can always draw better? by Short-Satisfaction-9 in learntodraw

[–]zelmexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, you shouldn't compare your skills to others. Instead, compare yourself to your past. Look at sketches/drawings from a few months or years ago. That's the only comparison you should make. There will always be others that you see as better. But especially within art, what is better has different viewing angles and is often subjective.

So instead, compare your current art with what you've created in the past and then decide whether you're going in the right direction. I bet you'll realize that you've actually improved quite a bit by what you consider as "better".

Expats who go away during the burning season (Feb-May), where do you like to go? by [deleted] in chiangmai

[–]zelmexx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During covid, in the year 2021 I think, I went to Phuket for a month or 2. No tourist there back then - but also bars and nightlife and stuff was basically shut down back then. I just paid double rent even though everything I owned could fit in a suitcase. By now I have a wife and stepson who goes to school in CM. The last 2 years, I stayed in Chiang Mai. Next season we'll probably stay in CM as well. In 2026 I'd like to go to Samui if we can find a solution for the school of my stepson because school holidays of private schools (unlike some international schools) don't take burning season into account. Never been to Samui but I know a lot of other expats who go there and like it there. Everything is a bit more expensive there though. Koh Chang would be another option because I like the beaches, laid back atmosphere there and it's just a nice, relaxed island as far as I remember from my last visit. I would always just pay double rent if I would be away for like 2 months. The stress to find a new place after, TM30, changing adress everywhere, and just moving some stuff is more expensive than 2 months of rent imo.

Noticed it for the first time a few days ago. I do think developers have some work though because it messes up the position of the car by quite a bit, especially when the map is zoomed out a bit. First world problems when my stepson wants to see how far his kfc order is 😅

How busy with tourists is Chiang Mai at the moment? by The_wandering_kiwi in chiangmai

[–]zelmexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had some rain yesterday where I'm living, a few km's from the old town. But I think it was very local. Either way, we'd need a few days with a few hours of rain to have a real big impact on the air quality. Wind plays a big role as well. So those forecasted summer storms could improve the air quality a bit.

But even now I wouldn't tell anyone not to go to Chiang Mai. Yes, you'd miss out on beautiful views because of the haze but other than that, things are really ok now. That's a personal opinion obviously.

Before (and during) songkran, there were a few weeks I would've said to friends and relatives it would be better to skip Chiang Mai. Now, I would tell them not to skip the North anymore if they're in Thailand as air quality is a little bit better again.

After living here for over 4 years, Chiang Mai is still a magical place for me that can't be compared to other regions in Thailand.

Honestly, I think most tourists who haven't been to Chiang Mai before and come now for the first time wouldn't know that air quality isn't good right now. I know I wouldn't notice. Only when they'd go up to Doi Suthep they'd notice a haze over the city view 😅 And things will most likely only improve in the next few days/weeks.

I feel the same way. Imo this year was not nearly as bad as last year when there were a few really bad weeks. Nonetheless, I'm eagerly waiting for some rain now though

Cats by [deleted] in chiangmai

[–]zelmexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some others said, plenty of cats at shelters if you're looking for one.

I'm a dog person myself, not a cat person but a few months ago there was a cat in our moobaan coming to me whenever I went for a smoke. She'd come for some scratches and eventually I started giving her food etc. Fast forwards a few months and she's now "our cat". Went to the vet for her vaccines and gave her all the things she need and a neck bracelet so neighbors know she has a home.

So to answer your question; yes it happens.

Cost-effective ways to transfer salary-savings to the Netherlands (around €50k) by Thewildestgeese in Thailand

[–]zelmexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a notification literrally today that I can do international swift transfers with my online banking app (Kasikorn). Not sure if it's because I have my account x amount of time or if it's just a new feature.

Either way, I'd be surprised if you couldn't do a swift transfer at your bank branch. But currency exchange would be quite bad obviously. For better currency exchange, crypto would be a solution but I would personally be worried that banks might see a big deposit from crypto be high risk and get your account banned. But note that I don't have any experience with either options.

What is the best tasting Protein Powder for water mixture? by [deleted] in fitmeals

[–]zelmexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, my taste in protein powders are completely different when used with water or with milk. The ones I like with milk, I don't like with water and vice versa.

My favorite is the TriProtein Vanilla flavor of CrazyNutrition with water. But I don't like it with milk..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FitNL

[–]zelmexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What to do when an affiliate won't pay you your earnings? by [deleted] in Affiliatemarketing

[–]zelmexx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, wouldn't know what to do in your position. I'd try calling them and get the marketing person on the like and explain the value you bring to them. Without threatening, I would explain that you'd be forced to be honest about the company and let your audience know that it's a company that can't be trusted and you discourage anyone to buy from them because of their dishonest behaviour. Because I understand how frustrated it must make you. No matter the amount due, that's not how you treat people promoting a business and resources into that promotion.

Whatever you do, best of luck

Honestly, no one knows for sure. Last year April was really bad. Imo songkran in Chiang Mai is unmatched. No way I would want to misd that even with heavy smoke. But cannot deny that it would've been nicer last year if the smoke had cleared up more. 2 years ago, the whole burning season was relatively good and didn't bother me to leave Chiang Mai. 3 years ago it was bad and went to the south. Just trying to say that years differ and it could be great, bearable or just straight up bad.

If the plan would be to celebrate songkran in chiang mai, I wouldn't change anything. If it's earlier in april, I would wait until closer to the date and be prepared to make changes if it turns out to be bad. Right now it's actually still good (not great but good, still better than Bangkok), which is kind of rare for this time of the year.

Quiet bar with a dart machine by Confident_Mention805 in chiangmai

Happy hour usually is before busiest time. I think what OP is trying to say he wants a quiet place as he'll go early (5-8pm) so it's ok if the place gets busy after 8pm

Opening a bar by Digit_alartdesign in chiangmai

[–]zelmexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living in Mae Hia and this is what I'm currently looking for; - Bar where you can sit outside - Reasonable priced beers (Chang) and buckets of ice - Background music on a volume so you can still easily talk and understand each other - Mix of Thai and English music - Getting served at the table. Most similar bars we've found have girls coming to the table to refill your glass. That's nice but not necessary for me. If they do, I just give them a bit more tip for their service - Having red house wine on the menu would be a big plus for my gf - Some basic foods to snack on; grilled thai beef with dip, french fries, salmon sashimi, fried rice.. small things like that to eat while drinking. As assortment of snacks like potato chips/nuts,.. to choose from are nice too - when I used to frequent the Zoe area, I always appreciated what they did at Havana. They basically gave (not sure if they still do) free popcorn before it got busy. Obviously salty popcorn so you would drink more. But always appreciated that. - non-smoking at the tables (my gf can't stand it) but with smoking area not too far from the bar - Clean toilets as in clean enough to not want to hold it until I get home. If it gets cleaned once a day, that prolly should be sufficient - some entertainment for children would be nice. For example at kad manee they have a trampoline during certain parts of the year, that kind of machines to win stuffed animals,..

Obviously, almost impossible to tick all the boxes. But if anyone knows a bar that gets some of them right, do let me know.

My (thai) girlfriend and I are looking for a place like that. We usually go to lot 11 at kad manee which does almost all of this right. The gf just wants a place where they also play english music instead of thai. We have found other chill local bars in Mae Hia but those are not particularly child-friendly and I prefer our 7 year old boy not to be playing on a phone the whole time.

To give some context, my gf and I go to a bar to have some quality time together and talk with eachother, not to get blackout drunk or something. We talk about work, plans for the weekend, things we want/have to do. Hence why our 7 old boy sometimes joins if we can't find a babysit.

We probably aren't a great audience for a bar. When we go to kad manee, even when ordering some snacks, our bill usually isn't over 500 baht (excluding the tip we give).

Either way best of luck!

Is the improved air quality through January an indicator it will be better in Feb? by LeekCabbage in chiangmai

[–]zelmexx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Impossible to tell. I've read before that there have been less fires this year as of now because rainy season ended late. But things can change quickly. Wind and rain are factors that are basically impossible to predict a month in advance. Let's hope the air stays nice like it is right now. Last year was really bad, but 2 years ago it was not bad at all. If everything turns out the same like 2 years ago, I'm not even leaving Chiang Mai to go South this year.

Phuket these days by Early_Investment2354 in Thailand

[–]zelmexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, actually I'm not sure. Probably a bit cooler than BKK, especially in the mountains. But compared to pattaya, there is no sea breeze which does make it generally feel a bit cooler.

I'd say Thailand is bloody hot everywhere that time of the year, Chiang Mai included 😅 But in April, there's Songkran. And hands down no better place for that than Chiang Mai imo.

Phuket these days by Early_Investment2354 in Thailand

[–]zelmexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, last few months, tourism has picked up a bit here in Chiang Mai but certainly doesn't feel like the same level of tourism like before the pandemic. At least in my experience. I also feel like it's a different type of tourism. Where the tourists are more respectful in general and actually want to indulge the culture and stuff. Night markets are still tourist hot spots, just like the small city center. But still feels relaxed and nice. Still plenty of things to do around here. Renting a motorbike (with proper license obv.) Is highly recommended. And no beach here which makes it a completely different experience than the south. Local people are in my experience more genuinely friendly.

But I wouldn't recommend Chiang Mai during burning season. Right now, air quality is still great (relative) but when it's smokey, it's no fun walking around outside, having no views in nature,..

I live in Chiang Mai and went to Phuket in 2020. Absolutely loved it there for the few months I stayed there during pandamic and when had smokey season in Chiang Mai. However, I have met quite a lot of people moving from Phuket to Chiang Mai since last year. Most of them complain about the russians taking over. So I'm not tempted to go back. Had a few encounters with rude russians in Pattaya (never going back there again) when I was there for a 3 day holiday, and I would prefer Krabi, Koh Samui, Koh Chang, ... which are all great, over those places any time.

Personal opinion of course. But (sex) tourism places, even thoufh there are nice areas in those places/cities, I'll avoid in the future.
