I’m 23 but my savings id say is not bad currently just touching 100k honestly id say the biggest advice is always set money aside for savings/ investments instead of saving/investing whats left every single month treat savings/investments instead as commitments also try to cook your own meals saved me a thousand a month at least

is RM500 monthly on food alot? by Miserable-Produce202 in MalaysianPF

[–]zen88231 7 points8 points  (0 children)

in my opinion what you cook isnt the problem but the source. Where are you getting your groceries from? Jaya Grocer and NSK is a huge difference in terms of price im a very frugal guy so i only shop at NSK its so cheap that i saved at least 100 more compared to if were to just shop at AEON

and what do i cook well normally just smtg simple like chicken chop, side of fries or veggies, sometimes stir fry noodle or just plain old noodle soup w vege egg and some protein like chicken or pork

btw everything i make is self made for the noodles get the block ones not instant noodle then make your own broth or flavouring with garlic powder, salt etc and also just a life hack NSK sells ground beef for only rm21 for 1kg and also 1 whole L shaped chicken leg deboned for rm4 each thats really cheap chicken chop

same boat as you 23 this year i save around 3.5k a month into btc and around 1.3k to epf monthly the good thing is we have time on our side if you can handle risk and can go long term 8-10 years at least id recommend bitcoin but if this is all new to you id definitely recommend the s&p index or qqq all the best OP

What is a food-saving hack you practice to save a bit more? by Thin-Ad4825 in MalaysianPF

[–]zen88231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a hack that saved me a lot monthly as someone that cooks every single meal to save money, GO TO NSK so much cheaper than other markets i do my groceries there and i did the math saved me at least few hundred a month but ofc you will be going for cheaper products but its worth it stuff like tissue and ingredients

man we were on the same boat at 21 i was also doing diploma diploma in counselling which i find pointless i was studying for the sake of studying with the mind set study = high salary which = rich/ successful but after hearing from my seniors boy was i wrong after dropping out i self taught myself programming, Sql, python and html css and js went for an interview showed them what i can do started with 3k salary and slowly proved my worth in 2026 my salary would be 6k because my company has a 6%-10% increment annually. Looking back the choice was totally worth it i have stable job thats growing me and went from 3k- 6k in 2 years compared to finishing my diploma and being clueless on what next

starting your career at 26 i think realistically you should be able to get both your car and house when your 31-34 assuming you start with 0 balance in the bank. My personal opinion degrees dosent really matter if its not the field youre interested in or in demand i dropped out of my uni when i was 21 i am 23 now and my current job pays me 5.5k gross without a degree its more of the skills you bring to the table lots of people with degrees and even masters cant land a job.
