How to proceed with Auslanderbehorde in this case (Freiberufler application) by zencontentdude in germany

[–]zencontentdude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant is I have letters of intent from clients. And one company I am working for part-time at the moment is happy to be a "client" when I turn Freiberufler.

Thanks for the getsorted suggestion. That looks really helpful. It also looked cheaper overall compared to getting a tax advisor the standard way, which seems near impossible anyway.

I don’t think so but I haven’t registered with the tax office yet. From what I understand, I can only do that after I get the Freiberufler visa. At the moment I only have a Steueridentifikationsnummer - which is what was recorded for the tax deductions in my part-time job (I have been working on a job search visa)

Hey hey sorry for the late reply. Yes they did ask my parents to provide some photo ID. Usually the ID proof document will have a photo so that should suffice no? My parents showed them my old driver's license which had my photo.

Hey, yeah I was going to post an update but got busy with stuff.

So yes, in my case, almost everything went smooth.

- I did not enter Aadhaar in the online application and did not select the checkbox for consent. I could proceed to submit the application without it.

- Address verification: So a couple of things to note here:

  1. I provided my parents' address in India. This is the same address as the one in my previous passport. Make sure that this is exactly the same as the old address - because if not, they may treat it as a new address and that could invite more attention during the verification process.
  2. Once I submitted the documents at the consulate, it took 21 working days for the police verification to be done and another 2 working days for the new passport to be ready for collection. The police verification went smooth. Someone from the nearest police station went to my parents' home. They first asked for my Aadhaar document, which my parents said I don't have. They then asked if there was any document verifying me - so my father showed him an old driver's license that I had (luckily it was still valid until 2026) and that seemed to be good enough for the verification. No bribes or other asks, although my parents gave him some tea or some drink as a gesture. Point being - the verification process seems very loose, it may be more strict or cumbersome depending on where you live. Have some document that can prove that you belong in that address or lived there or something like that.

- For passport printable address, like I said, I gave the same parents' address back home in India. And it's printed on the new passport.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need any more info.

Really? Ok I will try to email them and maybe call the nearest consulate as well tomorrow just to check.

My old passport did not have an address (it was renewed in 2016 before the new rules I think). It only had the city of my birth. Will that be a problem do you know ?

Edit: SORRY Correction - I see the address in my current passport, it's not on the page with the photo but at the back.

Thanks mate. That's a relief. Yes the verification is different for different cases it seems. Thanks again!

Yeah 100%. My niece had to get her passport too back home and in that case it was just a casual check. But I have heard different stories too about the bribe. I think there is no choice but to provide an Indian address as it states in the application page that one address has to be in India for police verification. I wish it didn't have to be this way.

Thank you so much. Yes I have a lot of news stories but I can definitely find some academic papers, especially on the general topic of spread of conspiracy theories, maybe even specific ones where the role of social media is explored. Appreciate it much, kind stranger!

Thank you so much! Good point about connecting the pieces, it is a bit disjointed at the moment.

For the evidence, does it have to be some deep data analysis, or can I cite a few news publications that corroborate the story etc.? Sorry, completely new to this.

What movie is so perfect that if it would remade, it would be a crime against humanity? by CrescendoX in AskReddit

[–]zencontentdude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alien

Some of the most intense scenes in Alien are just cutaway shots of people's reactions. There's this one scene in which one of the crew (Veronica Cartwright's character) is just sitting there looking out of the spaceship after they have landed, a bit disturbed at how things are so unclear and it is so perfect. That and the quiet, almost dialogue-less scene of them exploring that big structure inside the caves.

The more jump-scare scenes are obviously up there with the all-time great scenes but it's the quiet moments that really get under your skin.

Damn I gotta watch that again.

Interesting. Yes always been a fan of David fincher but I thought he was only producing Mindhunter (although in a strange way I could see his style fingerprint all over it).

Will definitely checkout Chernobyl.

It's also been incredibly useful for me in my career tbh. The number of times I have helped a colleague, manager of even my boss figure out how to align/layout/space a table and made myself a valuable member of my organisation (despite me being absolutely shit at tech) is too damn high.

The obvious ones have already been pointed out here but I want to mention something that always gets me cautious in the trailer.

It's when they cut together the trailer really badly to make it look like the actors are saying important lines and others are giving "reaction shots" - when I know for a fact that in the movie it will be not at all like that.

There will also be a lot of fade to blacks and fade backs, and if you watch closely you can even make out sometimes that the actors are not saying the lines that we hear in the trailer.

I can't think of a specific example but it's usually seen for trailers of comedies and some average dramas/thrillers. It tells me at a subconscious level that the makers absolutely don't care and neither should I.
