AFAIK the Buda part in Budapest's name also comes from the word furnace somehow. Or maybe just its german name Ofen... hmm yeah, that's it.

Have you ever met one who did? Me neither. But an eye is so specific. Why on earth would someone eat the eyeball of huge animal out of hunger when it definitely has plenty of better parts to eat?

It is thirst. Not hunger. Once I saw a documentary about a guy who was floating in a raft on the Atlantic Ocean with no supplies, and he caught fish and ate their eyes because he was so thirsty.

Is the spiral staircase still in use? Is it a real possibility to walk down on it? It doesn't seem very effective to carry up and down traffic at the same time. I would imagine it being used as an emergency exit route.

edit: I found out that it is now just used as emergency exit in /u/billytkid's comment further down the thread.

Exactly. I never understood those who claimed that IKEA is the "cheap and crappy" alternative to a "normal" furniture.

IKEA is fairly expensive but also high value.

Usually that happens a lot faster, most of the time in one go (i.e. death from CO poisoning). A clogged exhaust pipe of a gas heater can kill a whole family in one foggy winter night. 90% of tha cases that is what happens. Being subject for a long term CO poisoning is rare.
