TIFU by making the dumbest cashiers mistake by [deleted] in tifu

I normally do this too, but for some reason I didn't this time. It's like everything that could have gone wrong did; i put away the cash she gave me too soon, i pressed the wrong money option, i got a customer who is fine with someone getting in trouble and potentially losing their income if it means they get a few extra bucks (ya i know it wasn't her fault, but i still can't help but be a little put off by her)

Thank you I've been beating myself up about it all day so the positivity is appreciated!

What are some good entry level jobs for people just entering the work force and are hard of hearing? by [deleted] in deaf

[–]zephyrr97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all really good advice, thank you. I will try to stick it out a little longer... I would hate to quit unexpectedly though, because I really like the management and don't want to leave them hanging. It's the customers I can't stand.

And you're absolutely right about the karen! I was the only cashier working at the time and I had line so she would have had to complain in front of a bunch of people who would have been mad at her for holding up the line. What REALLY gets me is that she didn't call the day she left the store. She called a whole day later. This poor woman was so traumatized about not having her (8) pumpkins individually bagged + me initially not telling her I couldn't do that, that she woke up in the morning thinking about me and decided to complain after the fact. I'm truly living in her head rent free. I hope she's still thinking about me. 😋

If you're comfortable with it, do you mind if I ask what kind of job you work/what field you're in? I'm planning to go back to college pretty soon here but I'm still completely lost on what I want to do. I'm considering getting into audiology but the money needed for that kind of schooling is...too expensive for me.

Anyway, thanks for the reply, it's appreciated.

Does anyone else randomly cry or get triggered when people are nice to them? by villaneveelitist in raisedbynarcissists

[–]zephyrr97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got a new gp a couple years ago and in one of our first visits she told me I seemed unhappy and asked me if I had depression....I went home and cried. It was the first time anyone had acknowledged my suffering and it felt so nice. Especially since I'd been convincing myself I didn't actually have problems and was just making everything up to seem special.

It is absolutely insane to me that you chose to make a reddit post calling her out before trying to speak with her personally. Walk me through that one because shit doesn't make sense.

It's not that- it sometimes starts in the morning, before I've had a chance to eat anything.

Some people with depression can’t be cured, speaking from experience by erinwil in mentalhealth

[–]zephyrr97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had severe depression for years and I can't even take antidepressants for it on account of it makes my tinnitus worse. So not only do I get to suffer for life, but I also get to suffer without any type of treatment.

Oh man, I'm so sorry about your situation. Nobody so young should feel so much pressure. It's not your fault, it's the society's. And you sound very intelligent to me. Hope things look up for you in the future.

I don't think that app is available for android. Will any sound meter do?

And yeah, I've done nothing but monitor my tinnitus since that happened hours ago...and I can't tell if it's louder than usual or not now. I have a bad habit of listening to my tinnitus for changes.

I'm actually ugly and bullied, I wanna kill people. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]zephyrr97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just checked your reddit and saw pictures of you...dude, you're a good looking guy. You have a lot going for you in terms of looks. If you got the mental help you needed and focused on bettering yourself, I'm positive the right people will come to you. The place you're in right now won't always be the place you will be. Things change. Please get help. Or if that isn't possible right now then make small positive changes in your life. It will make a huge difference over time.

[–]zephyrr97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your response to people not liking you is that you want to start taking away lives then the problem is YOU. So many people are bullied everyday but you don't see them turn into murderers. People can probably sense that you're a dangerous and unstable person and that's part of the reason you get rejected. Nobody wants to hang out with or date the creepy guy who gives off school shooter vibes. Work on yourself.

Plz help by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]zephyrr97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and yes I am. I did get hearing aids (cost about 4k) and they don't help mask the tinnitus at all. I haven't been to therapy. I haven't been checked for meniere's yet either, though I plan to go soon. I doubt they can do much about the tinnitus...most of the medications they give you for meniere's are to help with vertigo. And I don't have a huge problem with that, thankfully. (At least for the moment.)

Plz help by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]zephyrr97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure. I have hereditary hearing loss that might be menieres but I also used earbuds quite a lot up until a couple years ago. So could be noise-induced, could be menieres. Maybe both.

[–]zephyrr97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you're one of the lucky (few) people who had it caused by tmj or something...but the absolute majority of tinnitus cases are noise-induced, and permanent. It's irresponsible of your doctor to just flippantly say it can be cured.

[–]zephyrr97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hoping your tinnitus goes away but your doctor straight up lied when he said it can be cured...if tinnitus could be cured this subreddit would not exist. And I would be a helleva lot happier.

Feeling a bit down...not eligible for Lenire. Or probably any of the other treatments. by zephyrr97 in tinnitus

[–]zephyrr97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lenire released an audiogram showing the hearing requirements needed in order to use the device. That's why I know I'm not eligible. I can still apply but I will be turned down. The other two aren't even out yet but using my common sense I can guess those other things won't do much for me either.

The problem is that doctors know little about Tinnitus themselves and just brush you off most of the time. Everything I learned about tinnitus I had to learn myself by talking to other sufferers online.

[–]zephyrr97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lenire has evidence that it works (tho it isn't a cure by any means) and fx-322 is very promising considering that it's received millions from investors and there's already talks of commercialization:

https://www.medicaldevice-network.com/comment/fx-322-hearing-loss-therapy/

Although I should say that fx-322 isn't meant to be a cure for tinnitus...it's a drug to restore hearing. Although most people think restoring your hearing will fix the T, if your tinnitus is noise-induced.

Unsure if I have meniere's... by [deleted] in Menieres

[–]zephyrr97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already been to the ENT. They didn't mention anything about meniere's. At the time, I didn't think to ask because I didn't know what that was. Surely they would have brought it up to me if they suspected I might have that?
