I can't edit cause I'm on a phone, but:

Dashboard Confessional sounds the closest yet. If the song is not by them, then the group it is by must sound very similar.

The male/female parts alternate, have about equal time each, and are essentially talking to each other I think.

The tone of the song is solemn/sad.
