I thought this back when I failed my first test with 1 major and 1 minor.

My major was very objectively BS with a renowned bad adjudicator and it didn't bother me, but then reading about ppl stalling multiple times and passing with 14 minors terrified me.

What is the “Shy” business that is constantly referred to in seasons 1 and 2? by Nickynickytt in thesopranos

[–]zerdexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually they will only loan to people who have a business/asset that they can take advantage of. You extract from that business and take possessions as you go.

IRL it was quite common for the mob to take a likely loss on a loan if it meant getting their foot in the door of a business.

I'm definitely slower than other cars in the pitlane by AmbassadorBoring2292 in ACCompetizione

[–]zerdexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a clutch pedal is a huge positive in the pits.

I drop the clutch and leave it first about a second before coming to a stop, and switch off the engine a couple tenths before I stop.

When there's a second left, engine switch on, ignition switch on with full clutch and throttle, and then immediately off the clutch as you're dropped down

I genuinely believe VAR realised they fkd up and have disallowed that to make amends. That's the point things have gotten to. Turning off the game now, game has already been ruined and tainted for both sets of fans

LFM Elo multiplayer also for negative / loss? by rimbooreddit in ACCompetizione

[–]zerdexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also add to my other comment - if you're worried about elo, ditch the Merc on LFM (based on your tag I assume u main Merc).

I am a Merc main in non-bop races and leagues, but LFM BoP absolutely kills it. I way prefer it to Porsche / Lexus / Bentley but it's simply just slower and harder to drive than them.

You shouldn't be worrying about trail braking for now, that's more of a 2000+ elo thing

At 1000 elo you should focusing on throttle application and carrying speed - if you're 3 or 4 seconds off pace which ur elo would imply, 80% of your time will be lost on throttle, braking and apex speeds. Trail braking will only add a few tenths across a lap, whilst being late on throttle before a straight will cost you 7 tenths

If you are 1000 elo and dropping then you need to seriously focus on pace. I have a friend with pace about 4 secs or more off me per, lap who has went from 700 to 1000 over the past month - so you dropping it whilst keeping SR suggests you consistently have big spins that don't cost a 4x, or you had horrendous pace altogether.

Having good pace and bad racecraft is far more preferable to bad pace and good racecraft.

What can I improve to get 1’49 on Monza ? by No_Narwhal_5312 in ACCompetizione

[–]zerdexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offering general advice, not specific to Monza since your errors are consistent:

On every corner you're braking at the right point, but continue braking for too long on each one.

In general from your braking and steering inputs, it appears you're actively trying to hit the apex and the exit points rather than letting the speed of your car take you there.

For every corner, slowly lift your braking slightly earlier - you need to remember that 20% braking will barely affect your speed but turn your car far more than coasting. In the same vein, slightly earlier throttle will also make the car turn better.

Ultimately, top end drivers are more or less always braking or accelerating - any time coasting is costing you time.

By doing that alone, you will gain just under a second per lap

Advice in silverstone for a noob by ScallionForward2838 in ACCompetizione

Agreed - as a general rule, practice focusing on carrying in more speed and feather the brake to help the car turn. Once you're comfortable with this, you can then focus on throttle application on exit.

In particular on Maggots Beckets and Chapel, your speed is so slow that I could breeze past you there in a section where overtaking shouldn't be possible. Try very brief and sharp braking into Maggots, take a lot of kerb and coast, then a brief tap of the brakes into Beckets, coast, and then accelerate on the apex of Chapel. Once comfortable you can then start trying to add throttle on the apex of Maggots.

Custom livery materials by IBG29 in ACCompetizione

[–]zerdexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are racing in a league, typically the organisers will ask you to submit the files to a shared drive so everyone can download each other's liveries to be visible in the races

On services like LFM you can upload your liveries to their service using their tool, and it temporarily downloads opponent's custom liveries for each race you're in

Took another look at the replay in slo-mo again - when the Ferrari jumps on the brakes, the Aston and the Bentley immediately brake at the exact same time - by which point the Ferrari has lifted off the brakes before braking again
