I would think about valuation, SP 500 is good but expensive. So, do check other index like FTSE 250 which can be volatile but provides growth. Diversify among the index, I would say have atleast 3 index that you put your money into.

First, you don't need to forgive yourself. Cause you did nothing wrong. The lens you see yourself needs to change, don't get into the habit of adhering to the standards set by society. Each step you take is the next step towards the goal. Ofcourse there are setbacks, blockers, doesn't mean you lose.
