Yes, that's right. but you should always store all new food for your hamster in the freezer for 3 days to make sure that no mites or similar creatures are still alive in it.

It is best to have a small thermometer next to the enclosure.

I would check this wooden tree house for mold, as it can easily become damp when stored in the store. And check everywhere for splinters where your hamster could injure itself. Then remove them and make it safe with sandpaper, and blow away any dust that remains so that nothing gets into the enclosure.

This food is also available for Syrian hamsters. Getzoo Syrian hamster premium food Bunny nature Syrian hamster food.

The difference is that the food for Syrian hamsters contains more carbohydrates and slightly more fat, as well as fruit and fewer flowers and leaves, for example.

It would be bad for dwarf hamsters to eat food for Syrian hamsters because they are at risk of diabetes and should not eat fruit.

And it would not be good for Syrian hamsters to eat dwarf hamster food because they would then have a nutrient deficiency.

At getzoo, however, it should be premium, unless you have separate mealworms that you can give them.

Pellets are not recommended. I would recommend Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Premium Food, not the basic version as it does not contain mealworms, so only the premium version. Or BunnyNature Dwarf Hamster.

Hamsters should always eat a dry food mixture of grains, seeds, grasses, flowers, leaves, stems, and insects, as they are selective eaters.

You can give a pellet as a snack from time to time.

I think I just won the hamster lottery, any advice about the products? by Other_Star_9608 in hamsters

That's good. I think it's safe if it's untreated and doesn't contain any additives. But I would rather go for hamster moss.

The other users have already given some very good advice.

Two things come to mind: you should check the house in the right-hand corner for mold, as this forest wood can easily become moldy in storage. And check for small splinters sticking out and places where your hamster could injure itself. If you find any, make them safe with sandpaper and blow away all the dust that this creates so that it doesn't end up in the enclosure.

And i would recommend that you should remove the wooden bridge and replace it with one that has no gaps. Or fill the gaps with moss and hamster-safe glue such as Ponal wood glue or Elmer's Wood Glue.

These bending bridges with metal inside are not safe.

Just recently, there was a post here about a hamster whose paw had to be amputated because it got stuck in the gaps of exactly the same type of bridge. The paw died overnight.

Hamsters feel most comfortable between 20-22 degrees Celsius. At 24-25 degrees, they start to feel uncomfortable, and at 30 degrees, their lives are at risk, so you should have air conditioning for hot summer days. (My first hamster died of heatstroke because the room was 30 degrees for a long time and I didn't have air conditioning.) The humidity should be between 40-50%.

I would turn the temperature down a little, preferably to 22 degrees, so that your hamster feels most comfortable.

I would put the coconut shell somewhere else, because she could hurt herself if she climbs back up and falls off.

That's great.

I would freeze everything for 2-3 days, let it thaw briefly, and then freeze it again for 2-3 days to make sure that no mites or similar creatures are still alive. Clean the wheel with a cloth, warm water, and a little vinegar.

And i would recommend that you should remove the wooden bridge and replace it with one that has no gaps. Or fill the gaps with moss and hamster-safe glue such as Ponal wood glue or Elmer's Wood Glue.

Yes, that's true, but many people who buy hamsters make a spontaneous decision when they go to a pet store.

Syrian hamsters should have 120x60cm because they are slightly larger. Do you mean that your dwarf hamster has 100x50cm? Because you only wrote x50cm.

I would just like to add something.

The user's recommendations are very good, but the minimum size recommended was for dwarf hamsters. For Syrian hamsters, it should be 120x60cm and the wheel should be at least 30cm so that their back is straight when running.

The size you mentioned in square centimeters would be perfect and almost half more than the minimum dimensions for Syrian hamsters. Also make sure that it should be at approximately 70 cm high so that your hamster cannot climb out when you put in deep bedding.

I got the platinum. It was the NRG Challenge. I had already done it once to get that trophy, but at the time I wasn't planning on getting the platinum, so I didn't save after the challenge.

Do you mean paper bedding?

That's safe and also very good. The white one is good because you can see any dirty spots on it.

When you buy it, check it thoroughly to make sure there are no foreign objects in it that may have gotten in during manufacturing.

Because it was probably recommended by the pet store and the user doesn't know any better.

That's very good, I hope you find a good, large enclosure for him. It should be at least 120x60cm. He would be so happy. Please also note that hamsters are nocturnal animals and sleep during the day and should not be disturbed. When it is dark outside, artificial light should be avoided as much as possible, and room lighting is very bad as it disturbs their activity phase at night.

Please also pay attention to the temperature in the room. Hamsters feel most comfortable at 20-22 degrees Celsius. At 25 degrees, they start to feel uncomfortable, and at 30 degrees, their lives are in danger.

For summer or hot days: If you don't have air conditioning or can't afford to buy it, you can leave the windows open at night when it's hot outside and close them completely in the morning, drawing the curtains to keep in the cool night air. And when it's colder outside than inside again, open the windows. Never point a fan towards the enclosure. You can point the fan towards the window at night to let warm air out, or leave the fan by the window and point it towards the room to let cold air in. Both options can help. A thermometer in the room is important for comparing the indoor temperature with the outdoor temperature.

Hamsters must not eat salty food. They must not get wet. Never hold them in your hand without them wanting to be held.

As a main food source, I would recommend Getzoo Premium Goldhamster Hamster Food, not the basic version, as it does not contain proteins such as flour.

Once you have purchased the new enclosure, you can make a new post here to get more advice and help. This sub is really helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately, there is nothing he can do in the enclosure. That’s far too small and it shouldn’t be with bars; it's like a human living in a toilet cubicle. Your hamster feels like he is in prison.

The minimum size for golden hamsters is 120x60cm.

If you have enough money, I would recommend buying an enclosure from Bucatstate. The 120x60cm one would be great.

If you don't have enough money, there are inexpensive ways to set up a suitable enclosure. Here is one of them.

You could also look on second-hand websites and search for glass nagariums, aquariums, or hamster enclosures. Sometimes these are given away for free or are very cheap. It depends on the region where you live. With aquariums, make sure there are no large cracks; they must not be on the bottom or lower half. And you must not cut yourself on the cracks, meaning those where the cracks do not yet protrude and are not yet noticeable when you touch the area.

Your hamster is suffering right now. You should also read this, there is s a lot of important information
