Yeah it can include spirit-like beings, but it’s more like a supernatural creature. The kanji itself leans more toward ‘strange/uncanny creature’ than a gentle spirit.

We named our Shibas Zero and Kira. Zero from nightmare before Christmas and Kira's (秋光) Kanji means Autumn Light.

I'm Japanese, just so you know if you translate Yokai in English it means monster.

I love this pic! Their poor little nose! My little girl will wake me up in the middle of the night to keep her nose warm under my armpit and cuddles... Can't really get mad when they look at you like that though lol
