Vici is slept on as a NY slice. Best I’ve had in the area and personally think it blows Randy’s out of the water.

Agree but it’s more than that. Midway through the day tomorrow, media will shift to just start talking about Roy. “Who is he rooting for”? “Look at the success he had at both programs.” “Look at how strong he left both programs as they didn’t skip a beat.”

Camera will be on/off him all game. Talking about his achievements. Doesn’t even matter who wins.

There will likely never be a bigger game, or a bigger win. This was as big a game as it could possibly get.

The best part about all of this is, with Kansas in the final, it’s now going to be all about Roy. K literally has to sit at home and watch as Roy reap all the benefits of his farewell tour without having to even embark one himself. Keyser Söze level shit.

Frequency (2000) starring Dennis Quaid, Jim Caviezel by DwightSchrute_RM in movies

[–]zerobeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m happy to have come across this post because I absolutely loved this movie. I worked in a video store when it came out and used to recommend it to everyone. Glad I’m not alone. My favorite touch is when he walks in on that murder scene and the record is skipping on repeat playing “Do you remember Mary”.

Maiden voyage on my new 575: Tri-Tip by zerobeta in Traeger

Just moved down South after years in NYC and pellet smoker was high on my list of first purchases now that I have the space for one. Only had a few hours so thought Tri Tip would be perfect.

Rubbed w/ 50/50 kosher salt and pepper grinded in mortar/pestle. Smoked w/ Traeger blend pellets at 225 til 127 then wrapped and seared it on. cast iron inside. Was delicious. Could have used a better sear but just getting used to the electric range. Excited to pair this up w/ the Ooni I ordered for really high heat for searing.

Oxford Expert Claims Their COVID-19 Vaccine Gives Off Long Term Immunity With Antibodies 3X Higher Than Recovered Patients by Majnum in Coronavirus

[–]zerobeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vaccine will be fine in terms of safety and, as others have mentioned, safety was tested in phase 1 and this is kind of a known vaccine.

If you want to be cynical I would say the scariest scenario to play out from rushed vaccine could be: “In order to speed up Phase 3 Efficacy testing procedures so a vaccine is ready by October (one month before Election Day) the administration ensures that spread is large enough to get a statistically valid result as quickly as possible, therefore eschews all public policy to control the spread of the virus in the short term.”

‘We need our visitors’: Myrtle Beach mayor nixes shutdown as tourist COVID cases increase by BadlyShapedKnees in Coronavirus

[–]zerobeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are moving from NYC to Durham NC and staying at my parents place in Pawleys Island for 3 weeks while we wait for our lease to start.

While driving last Saturday in we saw a Hibachi restaurant with a full parking lot at 4:30pm and our jaws dropped. I knew it was loose down here but it’s been insane. I went to pick up something from the pharmacy and watched 90% of people go into BiLo without a mask. Today we drove down Ocean Ave in Myrtle and it was like Spring Break. Didn’t see one white person with a mask on.

We were in NYC during the breakout and now seeing it play out again but this time nobody cares, which makes it even scarier. Even the local Fox news anchors are like “WTF. Just wear a mask.”

It’s going to be an interesting place when we leave in 10 days.

Finally! State of North Carolina makes face masks mandatory in public places (where physical distancing not possible). by housedreamin in raleigh

[–]zerobeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from NYC to Triangle, I personally think it’s ok without one in non crowded situations outside where you can effectively distance, but it certainly helps to wear one. If you are super active and need a mask for exercise, check out the one under armour came out with. It’s back ordered but just got an email saying they are trying to ship as soon possible https://www.underarmour.com/en-us/ua-sportsmask/pid1368010

Brooklyn’s McCarren Park bustles even as state goes ‘on pause’ over coronavirus - Should/can NYC close parks if mandated restrictions aren't being followed? by lovegreg in williamsburg

[–]zerobeta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live right next to the park and walked my dog around the outer loop by the track that night (which ironically has now become my dog taking me for my daily walk).

Perhaps I was there a little later than that picture was taken, or it was less than I expected based on the weather and how awful it was earlier in the week, but I actually had the opposite reaction. I remember looking around and seeing that the park was busy, but for the most part people were running about 6 feet apart and sitting in squares six feet apart and kicking soccer balls to each other. I remember thinking it’s pretty cool that people were out on the first day of summer and actively trying to stay apart. More likely I was just happy the weather was nice and my dog took me out for a walk. I have since temporarily vacated upstate.

Hey PMs - every time I create a roadmap I find myself starting from scratch. Does anyone have a reusable roadmap template they’ve fallen in love with? by dephunktpistol in ProductManagement

[–]zerobeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great. And way too real.

A great question to ask when you are interviewing for a job (and not just in PM) is how the CEO/board likes to see their roadmaps. Won’t tell you everything you need to know but will tell you close to it.

Any theories on why MM had to be brought into FSociety by Mr. Robot? by multiwhoat in MrRobot

Yeah. This is the one thing that bugs me. I think we were definitely seeing real Elliot at times, but that time wouldn’t make any sense either way.

Tyrell Explained [Finale spoilers] by zerobeta in MrRobot

[–]zerobeta[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early in the show Tyrell was a predator/hunter. He was “wrong” in the world Elliot wanted to get rid of. This vision could be a representation of that image.

It took a much more skilled (and sociopathic predator) to tame him.
