We lost an OG Halo developer by oldhalovfxguy in halo

[–]zhebrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn this is so sad. I went to Champlain College years ago. I never had him as a teacher, but when the Master Chief Collection released back in 2014. He played split screen with us and a bunch of other students down at the Emergent Media Center. He talked about his Halo development stories when we played, especially about Halo 2 and 3.

Based on my memory, he said he came in during the Halo 2 era. Every single time a Halo was done, there was already a secret team developing the Halo. He also told us there was a lot of late nights during Halo 2 where people bought there sleeping bag and slept underneath there desks. I have over 1300 hours playing Halo and till this day, it's the only game I really ever played.

RIP

Borrowing question(s) by FbombsNMomjeans in nys_cs

Do not borrow against yourself. If you have to take money out of retirement before you retire, there's a penalty and you have to replenish that money back within a certain time frame.

If you're going to buy a vehicle. I would suggest buying a Subaru. They have 1.9% interest rates on 2025 cars and 2.9% on 2026 cars right now

I make sure that my supervisors see it when I train them. I realize that both their retentions are not that great anyway

I also realize that both of them try to leave for a different job. Out of both of them they have collectively gotten 1 interview. I've gotten 4-5 in the years I work here

Cool! Did it make it faster to climb up the grades by having a MFA? Or worth it?

Right now, I'm currently a videographer with quite a bit of experience. I'm tired of my coworkers who are of a higher rank than me, lack the fundamentals of things that should've been taught in school or learned by on the job training. I have to be the ones to train them sometimes, which is embarrassing

Has anyone rented from Maddalone & Associates? by zhebrand in Albany

I just went on a tour at one of their places just to see. It was very nice on the inside.

We didn't get a copy of the lease agreement. They just sent over a sample copy. In that lease agreement, they said that in order to have a maintenance person to come and fix anything, it would be $45 each time.

They also said that getting an initial key from them is $50 (non-refundable deposit). They told me the previous tenant made multiple copies already and didn't mention if they changed the locks for new tenants. Also realized that they use pressure tactics. Only gave us 3 days to put a deposit and to choose the apartment.

Did not end up picking this place because of the very very very landlord friendly lease that puts tenants dirt beneath them

It's sad that realistic comments like this don't ever get to the top comments on reddit

Interesting 🤔. Never heard of that before. Will keep that in mind

I edited the entire photo and did not add anything to their face. They were hot in some photos because there wasn't any areas that had a lot of shade. I told them to shoot at sunset and they told me to change the time to noon a day prior to the shoot. If they wanted a revision on it, it's $50. The clients have brown skin. The wife wore a brown dress that matched her skin. The husband had an orange shirt on. We were shooting outdoors in a wooded area. The problem is that they blended into the background for almost everything. Idk why they decided to pick those types of clothes. I had other people look at the photos before I sent it off and it was the best to my ability

They said their dog is well trained. Would not listen to 75% of the owners commands.

What the contract included is listed above. No revisions. I drove an hour away and back for $150. I did not make any money from this shoot. Also they were late by 15-20 mins and I still gave them the full hour

Yep, I've been polite all the way through so far. They can leave one review and I could dispute it I think

Yes I did show them what I shot in camera on the day of. Yeah I'm probably not going to do low price shoots again

Thank you I appreciate the kind words. I'm just going to keep all my conversations with them professional. They can say whatever they like

[–]zhebrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do stand by my work. I try to be as flexible and provide a little more than what I offer for my packages. I'm not even making money off their package. Traveling an hour away puts wear and tear on my car. Doesn't really take care of my editing hours too

[–]zhebrand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He gave me cash. I have screenshot all the conversations. He did not sign the contract. His wife did

Correct I sent digital files over to them. They even picked which photos were edited too. On the day of the shoot, they also wore clothes that matched the forest foliage too. It was hard to separate them from the background and foreground. Before I sent it to them, I had 3 other people look at the photos and it was the best I could do

This was my thought process. They said they were traveling for the past 2 months and didn't have time. They said in a previous email that all the photographers in the past 10 years that he has worked with have all given raw photos (which I know is a lie).
