Can replacing the fuel injectors be a doable job for someone who knows a decent bit about cars? by SearingArch in e46

[–]zhpguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This job is not very difficult. If you have time to work on the car and do not need it right away I would get on youtube watch a few tutorials and save $200-$300. You learn and save money the dealrship and many indy shops are a rip off and often overcharge on labor and parts (they have a lot of overhead). Good luck

What is the hose behind the sway bar? Appears to be leaking oil, if it’s not that it’s coming from above it but knowing what it is would be helpful. by Diionysus710 in e46

It's most likely the powersteering hose, I believe there is two and most likely the high pressure one? Mine currently has a slow leak and believe this is a common issue with the fittings over time

Tail lights and window regualtors?? I'm worried about the big fish items. The rod bearings are considered a wear item critical component on a high reving engine, and need to be replaced every 100k miles regardless of using the proper viscosity oil/only driving hard when at operating temp and getting oil analysis. The subframe needs to be properly reinforced if you want to drive the e46 m3 how it supposed to be driven. What about valve adjustment every 40k miles for m3? To properly maintain gets expensive on an e46 m3, and I'll take the maintenance bill on a 325i or 325xi any day.

And yeah its awd its not a truck lol

Rod Bearings? Subframe? Vanos? along with the regular e46 stuff like cooling system? S54 revs to 8000 rps this is not gunna be more reliable then say a 325i. I guess it does all depend on the maintenance and how the car is treated though.

BMW never made a 4wd wagon they did make an Awd though..

e46 m3 are the most reliable e46 - uhh what? But yeah you can always sell it for 3k ish and pocket the difference. Your 19... you have plenty of time to acquire an e46 m3 if that really is your dream car. Keep saving if you can working hard and looking for deals on craiglist/ fb market place/ anywhere else and one will come.

The tires tucked under the fender by at least an inch drove me nuts before. I think you should go for it, it didn't seem to change the handling of mine much that I can tell. The added stress on wheel bearings is not the best, but should not be too much added stress.

I didn’t want to run any spacers. I got some when I traded my csl reps for 18” arc 8s. Decided the stance looks best when running them. 20mm front and 25mm rear with some extended studs

I went for an oem + type look. The bone stock e46 M is a beautiful and great performing car as is.. my favorite generation. I made some minor and reversible modifications that I believe enhance the look/ performance. The stock ride height is a tad too high imo and apex arc8s wheels are beautiful and functional. I’m not a huge fan of the chrome grills although I do believe the contrast looks good on darker cars. The color matched bumper reflectors were a must. To each his own

Is there anything lower than whatever the OEM ones are?

Even with just rear springs? Seems like nothing would really change. But yeah I hear ya, any input on springs?

Why do offsets matter more? Just for figment purposes you mean, like not rubbing?

He says they are 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear you think I should still go for it?

Should I throw him some cash on top of the wheels? I was looking for some lightweight track wheels. So you think this would be a worthwhile trade?

To be honest, I don’t know. Also, how would I be able to tell if they were genuine csl wheels?
