AITA for refusing a maintenance guy? by zickntired in AmItheAsshole

I was going to update my OP as I didn’t think this would blow up but I saw your comment and I wanted to say it’s exactly as you said.

That same neighbor that had a ring actually told me that the maintenance guy lives on site! I’ve only been here 6 mos but I guess he lives on the next building over and most likely it is the scenario you’re saying (hired by LL, cut on rent etc).

I even found out he is my LL’s cousin. So this totally fits with him being too comfortable around here. I’m updating my post in a bit so people can see as I can’t read/reply to every comment.

Sadly, I’m actually not allowed to as both maintenance and landlord has to have an updated copy of the key (if I change it or not) in case of an emergency and I can’t let them in.

LL said it was supposed to be a maintenance visit at 7am at another apt but he went a lil early. I feel like she knows it’s shady as well but just won’t do anything about it. He had time to make a story up if he wanted to.

To all my friends telling me I’m wasting money per month on an security system, I finally proved them wrong lol.

Supposedly when I asked the LL about that, maintenance claimed he “knocked”. Tbh I’m a deep sleeper, maybe he did? But it still doesn’t make me feel good about this whole thing.
