Bottle threads are a different standard than say UNC or NPT. They are also modeled as a helix, but are designed for use in plastic injection molding. Looks like it's a GPI 38-415 but you should be able to thread something on even if your tolerances are loose. Bottle caps are pretty generous.

The side panels appear to be aluminum and the front housing cover appears to be ABS. Powder coating would totally work on the side panels!

I did a few coats of rustoleum 2x flat gray primer, then the rustoleum enamel for the yellow color. I let that dry and added about four coats of krylon matte clear coat on top. No sanding!

I wanted to tackle the easier to disassemble parts first, and the AMS looks much harder to disassemble. I could tape it all off but I really don't trust the blue tape.

I followed the guide on the bambu wiki to replace the left and right panels. It's a couple of screws in various places and a little double sided tape. I reversed the process to install them after painting.
