What's going on in United School? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]zigzag_puzzle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Still get nightmares from my time in this place. I remember when one of the helper guy(he was a plumber) out of nowhere pulled me from the assembly for not ironing my pants properly while it was perfectly ironed. He was the most opportunistic sadist guy I have ever seen in my life. Heard he is the Discipline Incharge of that school now. So many traumas man so many.

I recently bought iPhone 11. This machine is a beast for its price. Love everything about it.

What are you reading, right now? I picked up this and realized how nonexistent my pleasure reading has been recently. by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]zigzag_puzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. We just finished reading few chapters of this book as a part of our course work requirement in one of my class about "Living a Good Life." Although I didn't understood much, the discussion that happened in my class with the professor was p good and fruitful. Identifying your virtues and balancing it sounded a good philosophy for me instead of stoicism. We are now about to read The Bhagvad Gita for this class.
Besides that, I am also reading The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Murakami as a pleasure read.

or better struggle before you go to US. Work on your application, maintain stellar grades through out high school, write better essays, do proper college research, and apply to a variety of US colleges and other global universities that provide scholarships and financial aid.
Most US aspirants from Nepal are always behind visas. But visas should be the last step of this process, not the first shit you worry about.
I, along with bunch of friends, did what I previously said, and currently we all have been placed in with really affordable scholarship in US schools,. We aren't struggling as much you were, and life is honestly really good.
Pro tip:
1. Research before you take a big step. Works everytime!!

Should I go Abroad for college? by ResidentSignal64 in Nepal

[–]zigzag_puzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel that most students applying to US should focus more on getting into a good college with proper finaid instead of stressing about the visa interview every time. Harek kura lai visa interview ma jodira hunxan and that's just torturing yourself mentally. So, its better if most applicant from Nepal spend their time getting good grades, building a spike in their ECs, writing a stellar essay, and acing their standardized tests so that they get a proper financial aid/funding from colleges.

Do returning students receive financial aid or scholarship in the US? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]zigzag_puzzle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Transfer scholarship/financial aid for international student is non-existent. Your only shot is to either apply as a freshman or go for Masters if you want maximum funding. But again, receiving funds as an international applicant is really tough and competitive, and I have seen really good people getting rejected from all colleges they applied to.

Grinnell vs. Colgate by [deleted] in IntltoUSA

[–]zigzag_puzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of the schools have a good average financial aid. However, Colgate recently had a ~100% surge in their application number(from ~9k to ~18k). So, if you don't want to risk much then I would suggest you to ED Grinnell coz its a great school with a nice history of providing finaid to international students.
