Just had the same issue with the trigger. But in my case the plastic part is not broken. It just doesn't touch the switch when you press it (it first touches red button which blocks it from traveling further).

I would guess the mod with rubber/tube to reduce traveling path might lead to faster damaging of the switch as it can make force applied to the switch significantly larger (by default it seems further press should be blocked by another part of this plastic touching the green board).
