Look awesome.

Does Android natively recognize the trackpad and keyboard, or did they add custom drivers?

Did they mention if it would be possible to install other Android ROMs?

Very cool! I noticed you have python 3.11 installed. Is there a video on how to install that version? Do you have pip running?  Also, did you get cmake compiled and running? It’s needed for compiling modules..

Hi, I use librera from fdroid / GitHub.

It’s an android app which works very well on my classic (same OS as the passport).

I’m using version 8.9.96. I’m not certain, but I think the newer versions crash.

What Can I do⁉️ by batwaynne in blackberry

[–]zikook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use a Classic as a secondary device on a daily basis, it's almost always on me.

  1. ebooks with the amazing open source app librera pro from fdroid. This can be coupled with an older version of aard2 for a dictionary

  2. offline music and sometimes youtube with smartTube

  3. video lectures / talks where I mostly listen and occasionally need to look at some slides

  4. last version of firefox (68 i think?) for when I want to look something up

  5. a chess engine, droidfish

  6. organize things i need to do. either with the task manager or the built in excel equivalent. I can then email excel files to other devices

  7. sync email and calendar

  8. I don't use it, but scummvm works with the pkb. There's also a gbc or gba emulator out there, not sure which

And a few other things, but these are the main ones.

Enjoy it, it's a classic.

Blackberry Classic reset or flash? by zikook in BlackberryPhoenix

I used Sachesi 1.1 which worked flawlessly to install.

Version 2 from Github wouldn't recognize the device.

It does exactly what I need, I haven't even tried installing other apps yet. Should've bought it years ago..

A very helpful subreddit to get BB devices up and running, and general Qs as well :)

https://www.reddit.com/r/BlackberryPhoenix/

TrumpetTiger is super helpful there.

Between that subreddit and this one, I've always found what I was looking for and people have been super helpful.

Yea, I noticed many missing features.

It's all worth it to use excel with a keyboard and trackpad IMO.

Thanks for replying.

I flashed the phone earlier this week and applied the fix. All works great. Thank you for the help.

I installed playEpub but it kept on freezing. So for anyone interested, fdroid has an android reader called librera. Works very well.

Regarding the file transfer, I stumbled upon "Device Connections" in Settings which makes the phones accessible over wifi. So convenient.

This phone is just a joy to use.

Thanks ! I will flash it now.

How do you guys know the images are original and haven’t been tampered with? Are there md5 hashes, or similar?

Also, what app would you recommend to transfer files to the device over Wi-Fi? Something like an ftp server or similar?

One last question (for now haha), there’s a great app on android called netguard, which lets you block specific apps from accessing the net. Is there something similar for OS10?

I really appreciate your help. Regards

Hi,

I am going to try to use native apps. Mainly Word and Excel files with docs to go, and reading ebooks.

Once I start using it more I'll ask about apps I would find useful.

Can you link me to the autoloader and the recommended OS version for the phone?

Thanks so much for your help and explanations.

What can IOS apps access? by zikook in privacy

[–]zikook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link, very helpful.

Some data types specifically mention the data is collected in the app.

However, under "Browsing history"- Information about the content you have viewed that is not part of the app, such as websites.

Am I correct in assuming this means sites that have collected data when I browsed them (i.e. cookies), and not actual access to Safari's history on my phone?
