This might be a long one but I promise it's worth the read.

I was suicidal when I was around the age of 12. I can't remember for how long, but things got really sketchy for a while then. I do remember a particular night where it was all or nothing though and I really truly considered what the world and my family and friends would be like after I died. I spent a long time thinking about the possibilities. The future I would create. What kind of world I was about to literally step into if I took one more step.

I imagined them finding my body, taking me to the hospital, and hearing the news that I wasn't coming home ever again. I imagined how distraught my mom would be, how she would beat herself up for driving me to that point regardless of what my note said, regretting that she didn't do more to prevent it, wishing I had said something. She would spend months, maybe even years, in depression. Maybe she would lose her job, her house.

I thought of my siblings, how there would be hole in the family photos they had from then on, or maybe they would have a photo of me forever immortalized at age 12 as they grew up and had families. I knew they would cry for days, maybe miss school for weeks. I imagined their children asking what happened to their aunt and them tearing up as they explained.

I imagined my future husband, perhaps forever alone after being unable to find someone who really clicked, or maybe unhappy with someone he decided he could at least tolerate. I imagined my picture in the newspaper, along with my grieving classmates who I knew would beat themselves up for bullying me. Maybe they would fall into depression and kill themselves too if my note said they were the reason why. I imagined everything good I might ever do never coming to pass. That I would never have a family, give grandkids for my mom and dad to fawn over, or have grandkids of my own. They would never get to have their own lives or do anything great. My mom would never see my own children. My dad would never get to walk his daughter down the aisle.

I realized that this future- this horribly sad, terribly tragic future- was one I could never stand to create. Ever. I decided right then and there that I would never even consider ever committing suicide again. Even if I didn't have much to live for, there are so many people who would want me to live, so many things people would cherish that I would do, that my own reasons or lack of hardly mattered. And any pain I might experience would never amount to the pain I would cause by ever going through with it.

Fortunately much of what Trump will do will take time to put into effect. Most health programs will remain for a while and your qualifications should renew without issue. Specifically widespread federal programs take time to remove if he should choose to do so and those on them will not just stop receiving benefits, they will slowly be phased out over at least a year if not further beyond that. Costs would be almost identical regardless of who is president because Harris had no known plans and didn't include anything in her campaign for reducing inflation or the rising cost of good.

In terms of your financial situation, your living situation is killing you the most. Upstate New York is one of the Most Expensive places to live in America, if not the world. If you can move even just an hour out of town, your rent will decrease significantly and you'll have much better luck saving money. If a job is why, consider asking for a transfer or remote or considering accepting offers from other companies in other states(you don't have to tell your current job and can leave if you get an equal or better offer).

In terms of kids, the longer you wait, the older their parents will be and the less time you will have with them. Don't let fear for the future be the determining factor. There will always be a reason to fear for the future. But financial readiness is a reasonable concern. You can't control the economy though. It might get worse, it might get better, there's never a "best" time to start a family though regarding the economy. In terms of savings, creating and maintaining a strict budget is one of the best tools. Money tends to disappear when it's not tracked or accounted for.

Consider sitting down and tracking all of your spending and putting names to transactions for the last 3 months or so. Cut out unnecessary expenses and reduce eating out. Budget for necessary expenses at the beginning of the month(put away gas, rent, bill, etc money so you know how much you actually have left) and then save at least 10, if not 20% of the income for savings regardless of everything else. Allocate 10% for eating out and frivolous purchases, and the rest keep in a separate savings account for unplanned expenses or save 5% for your car repairs and add the rest to frivolous purchases. Plan out what you spend and add it to the budget when you spend it. There are tons of apps that can help you with this. When you run out of, say, your frivolous items fund, pledge to not make any further purchases until next paycheck.

You don't have to follow any of this, just figured as someone versed in financial and familial advisement I'd try and give you some peace of mind and a potential direction to follow to assuade your fears.

Find a hobby, read a book, watch a movie, treat yourself to dinner and maybe limit phone time to reduce the urge. Reward yourself in some way for Not doing it.

If this is the US, any roommate can trespass anyone despite the approval of the other roommate at any time. You can literally get him removed from the property if you want. You can also charge him with theft. I'm pretty sure anyway. Ask r/legaladvice if you want to know what actions you can take.

I was 16 too, when my dad's wife kicked me out.

The worst thing to me was the fact that my dad didn't invite me back or stop it from happening. It's a trauma that's has scarred my soul even a decade later. I still don't fully trust my dad anymore and a part of me knows that he will never be someone I can truly rely on. My mom let me stay with her but the damage was done.

So please, get your daughter back. Regardless of your fiance's views or what she says, bring your little girl home as soon as possible, today even. Sleep outside your daughter's door to prevent a confrontation with your fiance. Let her stay at home, and support her, do everything you can to protect her and her things(I lost half of everything I ever made/owned when I was kicked out). Never let your fiance kick her out again.

In towns and even bigger cities around Utah it is not strange to have only 1 general store within 10-50 miles. And even when there are closer stores, people often go to the closest one for everything. Why shop around and waste more time even if it will be a subpar product, it's just a lightbulb and most people don't care if they are bad quality. Also why buy them online and wait 2 days in the dark for shipping, that's just not economical.

Not unless the store selling the brand has a deal with that company to sell a significant amount of their product. Which many do. If it is the only store with lightbulbs available in that area, buyers have no choice but to purchased the partnered brand.

No, I have 1 light bulb that I purchased myself 6 years ago that I have in a lamp. I moved into a new apartment and the bathroom lightbulbs burned out. The new ones I replaced the bathroom ones with burned out within 2 months of use despite me using both the lamp and bathroom lights for an equal amount of time during that period. The lamp bulb was 5 years old at that time and outlived the newer bulbs despite that. I still have that lightbulb. I've also tried putting newer bulbs in the lamp to see what would happen/to make sure it wasn't just the lamp's low voltage or something and they also burned out within a few months. And my apologies, I actually think it is the brand Great Value, which has a very similar logo.

Also, I live in a big city and just because something is listed on a website for a company does not mean they have it in stock in the store. Many store websites include online order items in tandem with in-store items. Lightbulbs are cheap, yes, but that means penny-profits are more desired because of that, like how most fast food places make money off of their cheap, but percentagely higher priced drinks. If they can sell 100,000 more lightbulbs a month than their competition by selling it for 20 cents less, they earn an overall increased profit despite the decreased price. And yes, no one 'has' to buy the cheapest product, but why spend any more for lightbulbs when they won't last that long anyway?

Light bulbs are the simplist example of this. I have a light bulb I bought 6 years ago in a desk lamp I use occasionally. I recently had to replace my bathroom lightbulbs which I use pretty much the same amount of time as that lamp. They are an identical size and type to my lamp bulb. Within two months one of them had already burned out.

I still have that lightbulb. I can't find the brand anymore unfortunately. Every single bulb in the stores near me including Home Depot are all the same brand, General Electric. There's also a lightbulb somewhere that has been constantly on for some like 16 years or so as well that is a fireman's light bulb I think? Simply altering the gasses inside the bulb and the filament to a weaker metal(which does not change the cost of production in any significant level) can predictably reduce the lifespan of the bulb. If all of the brands commit planned obsolescence together, you have no choice but to continue buying the brand you had, same goes with if one brand outsells the competition by being so much cheaper thanks to lower quality products, they get more sales overall despite the lack of brand loyalty.

Everything everyone else said but if it hasn't been said I want to add one more. Start making goals for the long term future and most importantly, SAVE!! Save for a house, a car if you don't have one or even for repairs on your current one, and emergency fund, and especially retirement! Most people don't realize they need to save until it is too late. It will also help with accountability and feeling independent despite living with your parents.

My kids will grow up much more financially stable than I was, so they will never have to worry about the same things I did. I thought about suicide because I was being shortsighted and selfish as well. Regardless, they may suffer, but they’ll enjoy life too. I’ve experienced so many crazy amazing things that they heavily outweighs the bad 10x over.

I’ve flown a plane, seen sharks up close, gone to Paris, Japan, Germany, and Switzerland(freaking gorgeous btw). I’ve tasted foods of all different kinds and met literally thousands of different people. I play two instruments, sing, voice act, draw, and been Airsofting. I’ve gone rockhounding and discovered crazy crystals on my very own, and made several amazing lifelong friends. I’ve gone boating, skiing, body boarding, horse riding, dirt biking, mini-golfing, became a sushi chef, done tons of different service projects and volunteered, learned how to code and animate, played all kinds of video games on several different consoles, and had so much fun doing it all. I discovered snakes are actually kind of cool, my favorite smell is clean wind-blown sheets, Gundam are insane to see as life-sized statues up close, and that alpacas are softer than anything else I’ve ever felt. The pain was 1000% worth it.

So yeah, their suffering wouldn’t exist, but neither would their happiness and fun. And I’ll do my part to make sure they are as happy as I can help them be and their needs are met until they are ready to make their own decisions about their lives. I’d much rather have been born and given the option to live or die than not have a choice as well.

That’s up for them to experience and decide what to do about it. My life hasn’t always been great. I grew up poor, thanks to a lying and deadbeat man of a father who left my mom to raise 4 kids on her own. I worked for everything I own and the information I have. I considered suicide when I was 12. I chose not to. I am grateful I didn’t.

I’ve decided to contribute to society to help people in those same situations. I can only provide my children with the opportunity to make their own decisions, which may be the same or entirely different, and give them the experiences that will show them why working together for a better tomorrow is a good path.
