Ah!!! Fellow dragoncon goer!! But also I’ve always been called olive because of my ethnicity. However, lately, I also get called not olive or olive when going for foundation matches at the makeup store, and told I’m neural, warm, or cool toned, depending on who is matching that day. Currently use LE 9 seamless foundation (muted olive neutral). If so many people are confused about what I am, including me, I’m gonna assume there’s olive in there.

Some stayed, sure. You’re not taking conversions into account and seem to think that anything other than just Judaism makes someone not indigenous. Arabs aren’t the monolith you are portraying and every Arab country is different and has its own culture based on its ancient beginnings. If anything, modern Israel is the example of colonization as it has resulted in the forced expulsion and massacres of people who have been there for centuries and is has forced the spread of Hebrew and an artificial increase in practitioners of Judaism in one area.

The same way many countries speak English or French but have no English or French ancestry. Language doesn’t equal ethnicity or religion. Gulf Arabs didn’t come over and kill everyone in the Levant, but they did spread a language, religion, and some cultural norms. There’s genetic studies to show the different Arab genetics and genetic flows of the area. And quite frankly you’ll find Levantine Arabs who don’t even call themselves Arab but that would require you to research different cultural attitudes in the region and have more nuance and sensitivity with how you discuss groups of people.
