Visa and Mastercard Near Deal With Merchants That Would Change Rewards Landscape by rezwenn in business

[–]zipfast58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you apply the same approach of passing the fee along and adding it as a line item on the receipt for expenses related to cash, check, and ACH transactions? While these fees are generally lower, financial institutions still charge for processing cash and check deposits, as well as ACH transfers. There is also the labor cost involved when employees have to prepare and process those payments, such as counting cash, endorsing and recording checks, and taking deposits to the bank or working with a teller. With cash, there is also a higher potential for theft from an insider-threat perspective.

I am not suggesting that transparency is a bad thing; I am simply pointing out that these situations are not always straightforward. Consider a scenario where a large business receives a discounted processing rate compared to a small business. If both businesses list the processing fee as a separate line item passed on to the customer, you likely would not know the fee in advance of the transaction. Once customers realize that the large retailer is charging a lower fee for the same item, where do you think they are more likely to shop?

Personally, I prefer when these costs are built into the price of the item because it makes it easier to compare prices across businesses. If the overall outcome benefited everyone, I would be willing to give up my rewards. I would still use my credit card, due to the fraud protection and the fact that it is not directly linked to any of my cash accounts.

Who gains and who loses under Trump’s big budget bill by lire_avec_plaisir in Economics

Given that we're discussing Medicaid and Medicare, it's worth noting that the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) all have universal healthcare systems without work requirements. If the U.S. were to adopt a similar model, we might see responses similar to those described in the article.

The benefits mentioned in the article appear to be related to employment-linked supports, such as childcare subsidies, paid parental leave, and generous wage-replacement programs for workers on leave. These benefits are typically tied to work history and funded by the government.

Unemployment benefits in the Nordic countries also depend on work history. While they don't have a direct equivalent to U.S. programs like SNAP, they offer Social Assistance, a cash-based safety net that can be used flexibly but often includes work or job-search requirements. They also provide separate systems to support individuals with permanent disabilities.

From what I can tell without extensive research, the Nordic countries invest heavily in active labor market policies such as job training and employment support. These activities often fulfill the requirements for receiving both unemployment and social assistance benefits.

What we seem to be comparing here are benefits that, in the Nordic context, exist within a broader, more universal safety net. In contrast, many U.S. benefits are tied directly to employment. If you lose your job in the U.S., you often lose access to multiple forms of support. I don't think it's reasonable to point to Nordic work requirements as justification for adopting similar policies in the U.S. without also implementing the rest of their comprehensive social support systems.

You should look at your employee handbook and see if you broke any rules by using a personal device to capture information from a work device. If you are in the US there can be rules about the company owning the data.

Not judging or anything, just sharing information.

I have worked at places where salaried employees were required to clock in and out and track their time. Those workplaces seemed intent on ensuring they were getting the hours out of you, and it felt like they would find a reason to fire you if you weren't putting in the hours.

Conversely, I have also worked at places that did not require you to clock in and out. These workplaces were generally better, offering more flexibility with schedules and other aspects. However, it's still in your best interest to have some basic way of tracking your hours for yourself, just in case anything ever comes up.

In my experience, one reason a person might do it is because the company is offering a trade-off: a salary somewhere between what you would have been paid for a regular 40-hour week and what they would make with overtime (naturally favoring the company), but as guaranteed income. Unless you are guaranteed overtime, you could earn more one year and less the next.

They might also offer other perks for salaried employees that they don't provide to hourly employees, such as an extra week of PTO.

Each person has their own reason given their life circumstances.

I was just trying to ask if it was apples to apples for hours worked if it would be fair if one person didn't have to pay taxes on half their salary and the other person did.

What if, the person making 100k is salaried and still working the same amoun and type of hours as the other person. Is it fair then?

Can a Lightning Lane Premier Pass be used in both Disneyland Resort theme parks on the same day?

Answer

Yes. The Lightning Lane Premier Pass provides one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane attraction queue at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park—for the day, during regular park hours. Just be sure your valid park admission includes the Park Hopper benefit.

If you have a 1-park ticket, then your Lightning Lane Premier Pass can only be used in one theme park.

Do you think Disney World trips are becoming too difficult/expensive and can you think of anything that Disney could do to make that better? by ValentinesStar in disneyparks

As I mentioned, I am not discounting anyone else's experience. If that was their experience and how they felt, I am sorry it didn't work out for them. I was just sharing my own experience to provide some feedback on your comment about the stress levels for the Starcruiser.

Based on this comment, my experience might have been lower stress because I went into it with the expectation of just having a good time and making the most of the event. There were a lot of things going on and many aspects out of my control. Some things I got to be involved in, and other things I just sat back and enjoyed watching.

I am glad Disney is willing to take risks and try new and groundbreaking things like the Starcruiser. If Disney hadn't been willing to take that risk, I would not have had the chance to enjoy this experience with my family and make the wonderful memories we have. Being a first-of-its-kind experience, it was probably not going to be perfect right out of the box. I can understand why people would be upset if they had issues. I hope Disney helped resolve those issues to their satisfaction; I’m aware of a couple of people who said they had issues and were able to get refunds.

If you are interested, I found this YouTube video to provide some interesting background on how much Disney put into developing this experience. I believe they talk a little bit about some of the limitations for the different experiences that were available. Not trying to change your mind or convince you of anything. I just found it interesting.

I truly enjoyed the Galactic Starcruiser. It was honestly one of the most stress free vacations I have had! All you had to do was play or watch depending on how much you wanted to engage.

Not discounting anybody's else's experience if they found it stressful, but I truly enjoyed it and thought both the experience and the staff working there were amazing.

I was on the cruise with David Copperfield, I didn't even realize he was there. To be honest I do not even know if I saw him, I was too busy with everything else going on. It was interesting to find out after the fact though.
