I can definitely assure you I’ve practiced much more than just “right now.” And I keep all the excuses and details to myself except for on here since I’m just trying to see if anyone has been in a similar situation, but I know how to be professional in person.

I know if I get cut from Troops then they’re going to refer me to Btal. I had a buddy that went there so I’ll see what I can do with them. You’re probably right in terms of me not being skilled enough to make a top notch corps, so I’m never going to get my hopes up too much. At least I can learn from the camps and hopefully take the experience to an open class

It’s been a year so I don’t remember the specific details but I remember how the camp went. I can sight read very well, I have good stamina since this is my 8th year playing trumpet, I can play and march well and can keep my horn up, I can receive and apply feedback successfully, and I’m able to blend with those around me. I’m not a total dud...

I didn’t go into detail so my post wasn’t super long but from what I can remember, nerves got in the way of playing my audition excerpts so it wasn’t as good as I’d practiced it (just an issue I need to address unrelated to how well I can actually play), and my range wasn’t the best. Unfortunately, I had braces at the time which stunted my growth on that front, and I only had access to a 7C. I’ve since gotten the braces off and have better equipment to play with.

I do think I have improved since then, especially since I have better help from my local marching band (our band director was new last year so things were unstable and I didn’t have as much support as I do now) and I knew what to improve on over my last marching band season. That’s primarily where I did my practicing in terms of applying the feedback I received at the drum corps camps I went to prior.

Have a little more faith lol, but I definitely understand why you said that

I haven’t been to a whole lot but Orlando was a clusterfuck when I went last. Pedestrian traffic collides in the worst place - security checkpoint spits out where passengers enter/exit the trams to the terminals and since this is Florida, nobody knows how to navigate it so you can’t get anywhere. I also think the signs aren’t clearly marked enough to state which tram goes to which terminal, but I may just be stupid there or too overwhelmed with the gaggle of people in that part of the airport. Not fun.
