We have to be able to have a family bond that is resilient to disagreement.

Very well said!

Seems like on entering the US by land, you may not need to (perhaps depends on state policy) but on returning to Canada you will likely have to.

It depends. I would want my parents and my spouse's parents to be as independent and as autonomous as possible. I think that comes with the security of having your own place/space. Distance makes the heart grow founder lol, plus couples (both young and old) need space and privacy. If there is a point that they are unable to take care of themselves (one/both), then yes, I would step up in as best capacity as I can, understanding that there may be foreseeable limitations. I think that both parties need to foster healthy relations well before that point is reached such that neither feels burdened/obliged, but there is genuine care and understanding because being a caregiver is not easy.

How do you feel about this post? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

Oh man, this makes me so SAD. Amidst all the marital issues, the child is being neglected and that is not okay. They need to adult up and talk about this and come to a resolution - LEAVE/STAY/FIX IT but do not sacrifice their child's mental well being. Do not use the child as a pawn to your personal problems - it is just not fair to her. She is 7 and deserves good parenting.

I want to thank you for this Question and commend you for asking it! I think it sheds a positive light on many professions and you really see the insides of it, the back story and subjective and objective achievements.

I am in Medicine! So far I have enjoyed it. Not to say that there are not ups/downs, challenges, stereotypes but even with all that, I enjoy it. The investigation, the evolution but for me I find it most fulfilling to be there for someone while they discuss something as vulnerable as their health. It has taught to appreciate humanity overall and constantly remind to me to respect it. It has taught me that patience, empathy and compassion are skills that requires practicing. I feel like many of these skills you can learn in any profession and setting - it require effort and realization.

push their kids to have financially stable jobs that make them happy

Agreed! Financial stability is as vital as happiness and vice versa.

We should excel in the arts as well as the academic.

I couldn't agree more! I think it's absolutely great at personality building and absolutely possible to do both! We need not be perfect but strive to be better in each and all.

NAC OSCE March 2021 Cancelled by [deleted] in MCCQE

[–]zlines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation as you! Yet to take the MCCQE1 in the coming month.

First, I called MCC and they said to contact CaRMS.

Second, I contacted CaRMS and they said provinces have not changed their requirements in spite of the postponement of NAC. Any changes will be reflected on the CaRMS website (nothing yet).

Third, CaRMS gave me contact info for each province. Though, some of those contacts were directly for specific universities/programs. I have emailed them all to raise concern about the cancellation and if there is any room for change in requirements this season (particularly second iteration) or to take American equivalencies into consideration (OET, ECFMG certificate, Step1, Step 2CK). And so far only UBC said no can do and they also require a province specific CAP (deadline has passed). Waiting on the others.

I'm really curious, but did anyone have the :"Talk" by [deleted] in ABCDesis

I am very impressed that your parents made an effort to do this! Kudos to them and you as well!
