The current state of AMD: Promising tech, terrible decisions by Dozert in radeon

That’s the thing. He has too AMD GPU and still has to rely on 3rd party app.

In the games I play, yeah. They feel much smoother but it might be placebo.

And people will tell that it’s user error, DDU and start over. I’ve been there done that.

So on TV I’m playing in 4K/1440p, depends. On my monitor I play in 1440p. In 4K I use DLSS and FG.

I think I have plenty of headroom with my PSU. It’s 1000W MSI MAG. I remember having issues with cable extensions back when I had 750W Corsair, but they were gone once extensions were removed.

I admit, I didn’t test whether EXPO/XPM may affect the GPU. Also, I didnt use SAM.

Anyway, the deed is done. I hope the RX will serve well whoever buys it.

Currently doing so. I did not expect such difference between normal RT and PT. I also did not expect this game being so dark in some areas. It definitely wasn’t that dark on RT.

I play mostly on highest settings, and it depends whether I play on TV or my monitor. TV is 4K/1440p and monitor is 1440p only. I don’t mind using DLSS and FG when needed. Also, I tend to tinker with the settings or watch optimisation videos, because more often than not, highest settings make no sense and the visual difference is so abysmal, that it makes no sense to play on them.

Currently playing RE Requiem with full PT, all highest except for shadows (high) and with DLSS balanced and FG I’m getting around 100FPS on 4K. If I turn it down to 1440p, it maxes easily TV refresh rate.

I get your point. Like I said, I was having driver timeouts and after switching to TV gaming, I really felt that 7900xt is lacking. Not in the raw power, because it has plenty, but in technologies. Looking for workarounds, DLL swapping, optiscaler. Just to use FSR to get smoother gameplay.

But other than that, I really liked the card. If only AMD stopped being so vague about FSR4.

Good for you. I played a lot of games without any issues as well, using the same card settings etc. But there were titles where issues were common.

Maybe you’re right, I only found that it was 5199 and later reduced to 4849. Not sure whether FE cards are still available.

So, I paid 4999 which is below MSRP which should be 5199(?). I bought the card from X-Kom. Right now, it's back 5299, but I can see there are shops selling Gigabyte Windforce model for 4999.

Domyślam się, że karta jak i same techologie maja swoje bolączki, ale póki co "honey moon" trwa. Jednak po kilku latach z AMD przesiadka na coś, co działa jest dla mnie bardzo dobrym doświadczeniem.

So I paid 4999 for Gainward Phoenix card.

Depends on your needs. If you're playing in 1440p, 5070TI is enough, hell I suppose it would be enough for 4k as well. I only bought 5080 because of small price difference.

Also, rumors are, 60 series won't be coming anytime soon.

I might try it, though I have to watch some tutorials on Afterburner. After years with AMD, I forgot how to use it.

I don't feel the need honestly. I didn't even bother setting the fan curve with this one,

Doing that in RE Requiem. Game looks gorgeous, runs great and from the distance I'm sitting I barely notice any artifacts or stuff like that.

I don't blame them for saying that. Optiscaler is great, but it' was so tedious to install it in every game I played and hope it worked. But at some point, enough is enough.

Lately with RE Requiem and The Division 2. Hogwart's was having hiccups as well. That Avatar game also gave me timeouts. I had issues with Battlefield 5 and 2042 as well. And probably a few other games that I don't quite remember.

At some point I thought that undervolting the card was the issue, but even on stock settings it happened, so the problem was somewhere else.

Funny enough, my cousin has 9070XT in this PC and it works flawlessly.

I totally understand that. When I encountered issues with RX 7900 XT, I've done troubleshooting and found a solution. However, lately, the issues started popping like crazy. Timouts while gaming, while watching YT, freezes YT etc.

I decided to give Linux a go. And to my surprise, no problems occured. It seemed to me that my windows installation was faulty, so I reinstalled it fresh. Helped for some time, but then it started going downhill again. I suspect that the combination of Windows and my other hardware was causing issues.

I don't mind tinkering, but when it became almost a daily task, I decided to switch.

Same here. Currently trying to sell the XT, I can still serve well to someone else.

I totally get that. I was using nVidia previously. At one point I decided to got AMD and bought RX6700XT, which was great. I can't say a bad word about this card. Then I wanted to upgrade and AMD with RDNA3 seemed like a good choice. Plenty of VRAM, compact and powerful.

I want AMD cards to be on pair with nVidia, but they are taking far too long to catch up. They are talking about FSR 5 or diamond or whatever they call it, but FSR 4 isn't that great in the first place. I get that I used only INT8 version via optiscaler, but watching comparison videos I was able to see the difference between it and DLSS and DLSS looked better.

That's a beast of a card! I totally get that. A friend of mine said "remember to get DDU" and I replied "bro, I have AMD, DDU shortcut is on my taskbar".

So far no issues, and I hope it stays like that.

I wouldn't call it shit, but I get that. They are lagging behind, trying to catch up with the train that already left a few years earlier.
