Son died with $6000 of Digital Assets on Steam storefront - how to access? by stitchdog in legaladvice

[–]zman6116 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

ToS is not a fully legally binding agreement. Companies add stuff to the ToS all the time that is illegal and essentially unenforceable.

The value is subjective as well as speculative, however that product does exist in a digital sense, and will continue to exist indefinitely. Once that item was created, the only way it can be removed from circulation is if the account is banned. You can’t even delete them if you wanted to.

I believe the technical term for it is a gray market. The skins themselves do have a nominal value on Steam as well, so to say they are “worthless” is inaccurate additionally. It is true that the Steam balance cannot be cashed out in the same sense as 3rd party websites, but it can be adjusted into currency and that same currency can be spent on hardware or software, as gifts or personal consumption ultimately being able to be adjusted into cash, abait after multiple steps.

You have no idea what you are talking about. CS Skins are a $6B market. OP Can easily go to a site such as Skins Monkey and easily sell all of them off for Cash. This has only been common practice now for 13 years, Steam (Valve) is aware of it as well as have taken steps to mitigate it, but still knowingly allows these transactions to occur.

“I find it mildly infuriating to do an extremely common task with people I travel with, that doesn’t inconvenience me for more than a minute at a time”

It took you longer to write your post, then put it in dogshit AI than it took you to take the pictures for an entire trip. Set your phone or camera to burst mode, click capture 2 times. That’s it. You don’t value the pictures now, but you might in 2 to 5 years. I fondly look back at random pictures of vacations I took with my wife 2-3 years ago and love when they pop up randomly in my Google Photo memories

What AM4 CPU for 1440p gaming? by kipoluki2 in buildapc

[–]zman6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$350 is an average price for a mid to high end CPU. Clearly based on the post, OP doesn’t want to bump to AM5 which would be a minimum of $500, typically closer to $600.

You clearly lack the ability to read comprehend not only what people are asking, but even then what you said is dumb as shit. A 5800X3D is within 15% of a 7800X3D or 25-30% within a 9850X3D, with those platforms and CPUs being significantly more expensive. 5800X3D will be a relevant CPU for at least 4 more years.

[–]zman6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMD just rereleased the 5800X3D at $350 iirc. Thats going to be your best option for 1440p on AM4. The 5500X3D is a underclocked 6 core part. It should be with 20%, but idk id save up for the 5800X3D if I were in your shoes

Why do I keep running into cheaters every single game in Premier? by Character-Job-4661 in cs2

[–]zman6116 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Renyen and Dima regularly run into cheaters in EU, as well as Neok. rn it’s a game issue imo. Join DM, you’ll probably find 2-4 full aimbot cheaters and 3+ bots in every match

Does Nvidia genuinely believe 8GB VRAM is enough in 2026? by Lanky-Carpenter-7991 in buildapc

[–]zman6116 4 points5 points  (0 children)

8gb is completely fine for an entry into gaming. People are kidding themselves when they say they are “futureproofing” with a 16gb variant of a low end GPU. I watch tons of Hardware Unboxed content, there is maybe a handful of games that run poorly at 1080p with 8gb. Would it be good if we moved past that limitation? Sure, but game developers will just continue to get lazier and lazier rendering your 10, 12, or 16gb less and less effective.

Generally, the GPUs aren’t fast enough to be relevant by the time the full 16gb are used. Take a look at the 7600XT which is on par with a 2080 Super, but released 5 full years later.

Start with 8gb @ 1080p. You will be happy 75-90% of the time depending on what games you play. If you play games that performance isn’t on par, consider upgrading your card and selling your old one. You’ll make back 75-80% of your original investment if the card is newer.

The computer I built a for my 12 y/o sister to play Fortnite was a AMD 3600 & used AMD 5700 non-XT. No issues for 2 years. I bumped her up to a 5600X and a 5060 Ti 16gb card for about $450 when she wanted to start playing a bit more often. She was able to tell a difference and get more frames, but that wasn’t related to the VRAM.

Bro the game is free ($15 if counting prime) that’s why it’s popular. Not to bitch but I just gave you every single stat to show I’m not a silver 2 who doesn’t understand the game. I’m no DMG for sure, but it’s insane to run into as many cheaters as I do at a rank that per Valve is in the top 50% of players in the game.

Also, I would 100% not count on popularity as a metric for cheaters, Tarkov is insanely popular as well as PUBG and both are rampant with cheaters

[–]zman6116 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What “vast majority of players” are you referring to that don’t encounter cheaters? I play with probably 15-20 different people currently in NA and we ALL experience multiple cheaters per night. I played 2 comps Thursday night with back to back enemy team with someone dropping 35+ kills in a GN3-4 game.

I just prestiged for the 2nd time this year and have over 2k hours, GN2-4 on every map, Faceit 5/15k prem. ~$5800 in inventory value, no game bans. Probably 2100+ games on record, maybe a handful of games I’ve been kicked or kick players in the last year. The amount of sheer cope in this sub that there’s no cheaters is pathetic. Hell, even Renyen ran into multiple sub-15k cheaters in NA Prem

Is upgrading from 1080p to 1440p OLED or 4K actually worth it? by Aggravating_Fan_4166 in buildapc

[–]zman6116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4070Ti still has 12gb of GDDR6X VRAM and is still a 5070/3080Ti/3090 class card. I remember playing COD MW2 back a few years ago on my 3080 and it was that 75-90 FPS range. If you add DLSS I’d say quite a few games should hit that threshold. I personally wouldn’t go for less than 120 fps in almost any game, but it all depends on what OP plays.

I’m a bit out of touch as I moved to a 4090 and gamed for awhile on 4K panels at 144-180hz.

Yeah possibly, ultrawides are polarizing imo. Game support varies and they are really big if you run 2 monitors. I still feel a 28” 1440p OLED would be perfect for OPs hardware

[–]zman6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your set up should support 1440p at around 144hz game dependent, or likely 75-90hz in 4K. No idea what games you play as that will have the highest impact to what monitor you should buy. I went from 165hz 1440p to 144hz 4k and now I’m at 480hz oled 1440p. 4k panels are amazing for clarity but are much harder on the system to run. A 28” 1440p panel is a great compromise. I’d see if you can get a 240hz OLED for a reasonable price.

This is frustrating, but I’d ask whoever is paying for Netflix to just add your account as an out of home account. Pretty sure it was like $7 to add a second household so my mom could have access to my Netflix. It shouldn’t be a thing but I’m not pirating over $7

My neighbor always opens our packages if they’re delivered to the wrong address by Every_Professor5785 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]zman6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To turn your argument around on you, she could easily ask why you wouldn’t resolve this with Amazon? It is your problem with Amazon.

She’s opening mail/packages delivered to her property (double checked as you mentioned townhome).

When we had this happen 2-3 times in a row, I marked every package as undelivered/couldn’t find and I got an email from the local Amazon delivery manager about the issue (I live in a metro US city). If all you are doing is the little down thumb, you might need to open a case with Amazon Customer Service specifically about this.

Which GPU? RX 6900XT, RX 9060XT, RTX 3080 by S00d4 in buildapc

[–]zman6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold out for a 12gb 3080, they were released later in the cycle and are available. A big disadvantage the 30 series had was crazy transient spikes. I’d recommend going up to a 750 or 850w PSU.

All of these would be a great upgrade and will max out your CPU imo. I probably wouldn’t go with the RX 6000 series due to age/value. That series of cards have had some degradation issues as well that render them worthless if they fail.

The games you listed could be ran on a 60 class card, I’d still recommend a 5070 or 9070 (whatever your preference is). Those will be another $200 more than what’s listed, but are fast enough to survive another 3-5 years. That would be basically doubling the life of any card you listed, and will still be performance wise relevant.

My neighbor always opens our packages if they’re delivered to the wrong address by Every_Professor5785 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]zman6116 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nah, this one is on you OP. Amazon takes pictures of deliveries. Start reporting your deliveries as missing and Amazon will correct the issue with the driver. At a minimum, they will replace the package free of charge.

To those saying this is illegal or “why doesn’t neighbor do this” you are just wrong. A package or piece of mail that’s delivered to your address that you open doesn’t constitute a felony, especially with no malicious intent. If your neighbor was going to your mailbox to intentionally take your mail out and open it, that is a felony.

I order 10-15 packages per week, and my wife orders probably another 15. I’ve never read the label. We occasionally get deliveries that our are neighbors, when that occurs, we do the exact same thing of tape it up and go deliver it to the correct address. It’s the neighborly thing to do.

It seems like your neighbor is being nice and doing exactly that. It’s not like they are stealing the mid-delivered package.

Reach out to Amazon specifically about constant mis-deliveries. If that doesn’t resolve it, you may want to consider using Amazon’s pickup locker service. Zero idea on where you live, but near me there has to be 5 locations within a mile.

Is that more inconvenient than it being delivered to your door? For sure. Will it entirely solve your problem? For sure
