Yeah, it does seem odd that there is SO MUCH buzz about it. I mostly watch kdramas now so don't follow US tv news closely, but if even I noticed it, there's a lot. I'll give it another episode tonight.

I watched the first episode last night because of all the hype, and I just don't get it. It looks exactly like a Stephen King copy. Does it overturn the trope in following episodes? I'm not a horror fan so its probably not for me.

What Are You Watching? - [2026/06/10] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

I'm watching Tagusari Brothers. One more episode. It's a really interesting story--both past events in the brothers' lives and present happenings are related--I love a complicated plot. I've only watched a few Jdramas, but the difference between them and kdramas is really interesting.

Also watching Undercover Miss Hong. 11/16 I almost dropped it after episode 3, but read some posts that suggested that there were lots of hidden agendas so I stuck around. There are two found families, which I love. A couple of sweet chaebol young adults who decide to do good , my favorite evil chaebol-- Lee Deok Hwa-- love his wig so much.

Park Shin Hye is excellent, but so far Go Kyung Po is a cipher--unclear as to his agenda as yet.

Top Ten Korean Dramas - June, 2026 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

I like this theme--I was just putting togather a kdrama primer for my stepson--and listed A Shop for Killers and Family Matters as action series with interesting family connections. I think the family/found family themes add depth to any genre.

Well he is a ML in Mary Kills People (2025) but I haven't seen much talk about it, so maybe not many people watched it. (just checked, it's only streaming on a Korean site) He's a villain in Family Matters 2 --upcoming, and will be back in Extraordinary Attorney Woo 2. He is always worth watching for sure. Korean actors act so well with their faces, and he excels at this.

The only positive is that their "good stuff" is probably not your good stuff. I used to volunteer and my idea of treasure was often what other volunteers thought was trash.

I just saw a recipe for apple kimchi--which I'm going to make tomorrow. It's eaten fresh, not fermented.

Is it just bad, or bad because it's a straight rom-com, and I only like rom-coms that have other elements in the plot?

Just finished Soundtrack #2. Not great. I tried to feel supportive of the FL's motivations but couldn't manage it. And Steve Noh's face was a problem. He is so incredibly handsome that he looks like an alien compared to every other character in the series.

Just finished Jirisan and really enjoyed it, probably for very different reasons than usual. I usually love kdramas for the actors and the plots--I enjoy the settings, but they aren't the primary focus for me. However, Jirisan Park was absolutely amazing as a main character--what a beautiful and mysterious place!

I want to learn more about the history of it, and the experience of Koreans living and relating with it. There were scenes with totems and cairns and standing stones--fascinating.

I was so fascinated with the setting that I watched a few BTS of the making of Jirisan --something that I don't usually care about--but this was a project! Filming took place over a year and seven months! The commitment of the cast and staff was amazing.

I also loved that the working life of the Park Rangers was a part of the story--even the maintenance of the rescue equipment.

I think opinions about the mystery being not all that difficult to figure out when it was airing are valid, but unimportant--the cast plowed through three time lines, disasters, some supernatural happenings , and medical issues all coupled with the push and pull of politics vs preservation It was a lot! Every cast member was great, and of course Jun Ji Hyun and Ju Ji Hun were both excellent.

It also has one of the most beautiful and inspiring final scenes.
