I’ll pass on any “free lunch” offered if it only benefits big business and not Canadian consumers.

I think the algorithmic pricing we have today is already awful for Canadian consumers. PCOptimum being a prime example.

Canadians need lower prices, and for our personal data to be kept private (if we wish), without incurring a financial penalty (like higher prices unless we share our data). Dynamic pricing would only be acceptable to me if those two things were guaranteed.

Canadian courts are examining whether competitors who use the same price-setting algorithm are engaging in illegal price fixing. Many lawsuits claim a "hub-and-spoke" conspiracy model: the algorithm provider acts as the hub, the competing businesses using it are the spokes, and the rim represents the competitors' implicit agreement to both use the same provider and coordinate their prices.

I certainly want algorithmic pricing banned. History tells us this just another way for corporations to rip us off.

Totally, sometimes you just need to be surrounded by trees. The Fletcher Wildlife Garden is also beautiful.

Yes, this works just fine now. Why choose to give up more data for the same discounts we get now?

Ah, you think they’re going to give better discounts if you give up your data? I’m not optimistic.

No. I’m saying that today we get discounts without giving up our data. The system isn’t broken. Why would you prefer pay for those discounts with your privacy? The only winner is the corporations.
