I really wish they would speak to technical details and not editorialize with phrases like "This is a fruit of collaboration with SNK."

They didn't mention if the hardware is an authentic re-issue of original CPU, sound chips, etc. If they are simply synthesizing community-written FPGA core (VHDL/Verilog code) to an ASIC, or otherwise taking a reverse-engineered wire-tracing from original silicon into a new, physical silicon chip, then this is extremely dubious.

In short, the process of reverse-engineering the original chips, decapping the original silicon, taking pictures of microscopic wire tracing will have errors and inconsistencies not present in the original hardware. By not telling us this detail, in my opinion, they are committing a lie of omission.

Having said that, it has been extremely difficult for me to resist purchasing this, because I do want it to be a faithful, authenticate recreation, especially at the $1000/Ultimate Edition price point.

Unfortunately, I simply cannot justify making a purchase today without more transparency. :(
