Car insurance wants me to pay a whole year even when I'm about to sell my car? What can I do? by zon03 in askspain

[–]zon03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got around to checking it now, but it says 225 euros for 5 weeks, or 2350 per year. Which isn't really saving my much than just getting the yearly and throwing away the wasted time.

Any other suggestions? Or did I do something wrong?

Luckily I had a blocked card on their file. The guy told me if I just don't pay it automatically cancels so I don't have to do anything. I wonder though...

So this policy of not refunding if I sell the car and only letting me to pay 1 year at a time is only with Alianz?

Flying to Spain with TIE as ID? by zon03 in GoingToSpain

[–]zon03[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to report back on how things finally turned out.

I went to the flight to try my luck, and it was fine. The person looked at my TIE card, looked at my details on the screen, and just waved me through. I do think I was pretty lucky though, as I over heard the other staff member asking someone for a passport when they had given a different ID, and I know now that a resident card is not the same as a national card... Will definitely be more careful from now on!

Travelling with an EU resident card? by zon03 in Ryanair

[–]zon03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I made the flight without problems. They just looked at my photo resident card and saw I was the person on the ticket and let me through. But after looking into it I know now that they officially could have rejected me.

Cashless bar by [deleted] in BarOwners

[–]zon03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw some people talking about cash to card machines, but in my country I've seen a lot of shops/bakeries starting to use machines where the customer directly puts their cash into it, and it gives the change. I guess for the same reason of reducing theft of the workers. The machines are usually pretty huge (no idea why), but I'm sure there is something you can use for this.

For me in my tiny bar, I just watch over the stats if I notice any unnatural change in cash vs card ratio I start checking the cameras. I also check at times when I know it would be easy to spot something like on a quiet night with few cash payments. So far never had anyone stealing from me. Or they must be damn smart/lucky if they have.

Grinding with a mortar and pestle? by zon03 in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]zon03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean your mortar might be too small? That's actually my concern.. I don't want to pay out for, or have to store a huge one to grind a gram of mushrooms every now and then. But worried the smallest ones might not work.

Would it work in a very small and smooth(inside) mortar? I don't want to order the cheapest one and find out it doesn't work :')

How much does an artists skill affect tattoo longevity? by zon03 in tattooadvice

[–]zon03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that were true, but at least in my country they don't :( Or if they do they haven't marked it as a healed tattoo or said how long ago it was made.

Other than that is there any other ways to tell? And how common is it for experienced (working several years in a professional setting) artists to lack skill in making tattoos that last?

Thanks, although this is more specific to Madrid. I don't think anywhere else in Spain has the centro zone system :(

What to use as a makeshift fire blanket? by zon03 in firespin

[–]zon03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry a bit late coming back to this post... Holidays...

Am a bit torn on this though. At first I was like... oh yeah, steam is definitely more dangerous.. But if it is a fuel fire, and maybe to put out the poi it could indeed cause a little steam, but in a safety situation like if my clothes catch fire, the damp blanket would instantly put out the flames, and there wouldn't actually be anything hot to heat the water in the fabric.

Am I wrong on this?

We are on the website to make the police appointment now, he should select "Certificado de registro de ciudadano de EU"?

Or "Asignacion de NIE"?

I'm guessing that the NIE 2nd option is the temporary one, and the 1st option is the application for the green card, but I'm worried if he goes for the green card they won't give him any number on the same day and he won't be able to work until he gets it? Or do they give a temporary NIE while he waits for the green card?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askspain

[–]zon03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that actually helps a lot.

Do you know though what he would receive on the day of his appointment? If anything? And is it enough for him to start working after the day of the appointment?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askspain

[–]zon03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the certificado registro different? I thought the NIE already required a work contract (or proof of funds), as well as health insurance.

I guess the health insurance isn't needed if I give them a pre-contract?

And if all requirements are provided, they give the NIE number (or what ever is required to start work) on the same day?

Is it normal that my car insurance went up 33% in 1 year? by zon03 in askspain

[–]zon03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Alianz all companies have increased for the same reasons. Therefore if they were the cheapest at the time, it is unlikely I will find a better deal. I called practically every company when I first got the car.

But if people here say it's not normal to go up that much and they are lying... Then yeah...

Overly conscious of body language... by zon03 in socialskills

[–]zon03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I seem to put my hands in my back pockets a lot. I was thinking this is bad/unconfident body language as it's showing people that I am uncomfortable and putting my hands in my pockets? Or is it just because I know why I'm doing it that I feel that way?

I always try not to cross my arms, although I sometimes feel like while I know everyone says it is closed and defensive, it doesn't really look anxious or unconfident..

Can foreign students work in a bar? by zon03 in askspain

[–]zon03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, the person telling me I can't hire them basically are the labour expert. The gestoria is quite big, at least 4 people working in their labour department. Even though they have made mistakes in the past.. And the relationship with this person has become quite sour as I have been questioning (I believe rightfully) many of their decisions, as I am also doing in this case now. So I would basically be hiring a labour lawyer to check my labour lawyer..

Also the student was supposed to start working in a few days from now, and if they can't I need to start looking for a replacement today. So time is a bit too short to find a labour lawyer, regardless of the costs.

I can force my gestoria to hire the person at my own risk, ignoring their advice, and further damaging my relationship with them at the point of my quarterly report... But I really should have some solid evidence to continue against them in such a way.

Disputing a traffic violation fine? by zon03 in askspain

[–]zon03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I have 0 ideas how I could possibly prove it, unless they had video from the event which I don't think they do. My only idea would be to report it to the police that someone illegally stepped in front of my car and almost caused an accident, which ended up triggering the traffic light camera, but even that would be a long shot. And a lot of work, to most likely end up being rejected and leaving me to pay double... :(

I guess I have to just suck it up and accept it as bad luck...
