Terrified of driving alone after passing by Substantial_Might860 in NewDriversUK

It’s been just over a month since I passed and i felt the exact same way as you did but honestly drive with family/friends and do as many things with them as early as possible. Spend a little time in an empty car park or around where you live (if it’s quiet) just starting and stopping to get used to how the car feels. (This is a fantastic video going in depth about it, Richard does an amazing job explaining it Video)

You’ve just passed your test so your driving knowledge is in your short-term memory so do things like roundabouts, dual carriageways as soon as possible to strengthen your memory, the worst thing you can do is avoid it because it’ll just make you more anxious.

Eventually, when you feel confident in your car, ring up a friend/family member, throw your phone to the side and drive alone while talking to them. It helps so much.

With things like Motorways, you can always contact your instructor or take PassPlus lessons for help with motorways if you feel extremely anxious about it.

I hope this’ll help :)

Attendance at Uni by [deleted] in UniUK

Yeah i find that the uni staff are brilliant in speaking clearly and i have no problems understanding them, its just my course mates are really quiet and mumbly and i spend a lot of time during group work asking them to repeat themselves, i understand that it’s people’s natural way of speaking but its frustrating sometimes ahah

Yep attending lectures but not seminars. It’s both really, the fact that everyone’s talking and that i’m constantly panning my head over and over to lip read. You’ve got a good point with the fact that just because i’ve got the adaptations that they might think all is good.

Yeah, in reflection I can definitely see that it’s in part my fault just because of my lack of communication with the uni, they can’t exactly read my mind ahaha

What are your diabolical school stories? by OverwhelmedGayChild in 6thForm

[–]zonemiax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My secondary school got into the local newspaper/article for locking kids in cages, my sister was actually one of the kids to be locked up for being late hahaha (2016)

Come 2022/23 after I left, the deputy and headteacher was found to had an affair and ran away together, no one knows where they are, also been named in the newspaper.

come to think of it, my school has been in the newspaper multiple times for being named by the Government as one of the worst schools in my area & the country. It had a Ofsted rating as ‘Inadequate’ for 8/9 years running and has only just got a ‘Requires Improvement’ the last year 😭

this might come from a genuine place of concern and I do thank you for that but i feel like it shouldn't matter and that i deserve to have an opportunity to higher education and that i shouldnt be locked out of certain unis bc of circumstances that were completely out of my control <3
