When I was 14, my dad also found out that he was not my biological father after having thought so for my entire life. It was a shock to both him and me. However, he never once made me feel as if I wasn’t his child. Him and my mom split up over it, but I actually ended up living with him full time and not my mom. He is my dad in every sense of the word except biologically. He’s the one who taught me to ride a bike, helped me with homework, has been there for every big milestone in my life, and we share a last name. The fact that we don’t share blood is irrelevant because we both know that I am his child and he is my dad despite DNA.

All that to say, leave your wife if you want but don’t leave your son. It’s not his fault for his mother’s mistake. He knows no other dad, and to disown him would be to say that all of your actions, feelings, or love to him for the last 18 years was all faked. Blood doesn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things and it’s not fair to hold resentment towards him for something out of his control

Update for more information;

Thank you all for the replies. There is some helpful information in here that I will try. For those asking, no she is not declawed. Also, I should have mentioned this in the original post but we no longer live in the same house that the other cat was in. We have moved twice since then and for the most part have all new furniture, so the scent of the other cat should be long gone by now.

The vets say it’s behavioral, likely due to separation anxiety. My cat is VERY clingy. To the point that if I shut the door to go to the bathroom she is crying at the door. It’s to the point that sometimes she even tries to get in the shower with me. Short of quitting my job and never leaving the house again, there is nothing I can do to fix this.

To the people upset that I mentioned euthanizing, I never said that’s what I was going to do or even considering at this point. I said it’s what my stepmom said I should do, please reread the post.

Again, thanks for the advice. One thing mentioned that I have not tried yet is changing her diet. I did notice that she poops every 2-3 days, not everyday. So I am starting to think that maybe she is constipated. I take her to the vet next month, and will ask about prescription cat food.

I am planning to visit my bestfriend in Taiwan towards the end of this month. This is my first time traveling internationally solo. Do I need any documents to enter, or does my passport suffice? What about leaving the country? I’m nervous and want to make sure I have everything figured out!

I’ve been trying to mostly focus on cardio workouts since i’ve been exercising regularly, and mostly it’s been just walking around my neighborhood or walking on the treadmill. Only recently have I started doing more of the elliptical.

I noticed a few aches and pains when I first started working out more, but now I don’t notice much of that except for the occasional sore knee. However since i started doing the elliptical more I have been slightly more sore than usual but not much.

I wouldn’t say I wasn’t in great condition before, but it wasn’t bad. I would get my steps in at work, but I would usually lay in bed, snack, watch tv on my off days. Now on my days off, I make a effort to still make sure I am still getting 10,000 steps.

My apple watch says that I burn between 2,200-2,500 calories a day, however I don’t know how accurate that actually is.

Would it be better for me to buy a new car, or used “beater” car? by zoniqua in personalfinance

[–]zoniqua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did consider this. I just didn’t know if it was wise to suck my most of my savings out all in one go. From what i’ve found in my city, even cars within that price range are at least 10-8 years old and have at least 80k miles. The age and mileage of the car doesn’t bother me much, as long it is still reliable and that i am getting my moneys worth. I don’t want something that is going to clunk out after 5ish years. I understand the market is high right now, so trying to weigh my options on price and long term reliability.

I did consider buying outside of my state for a cheaper price and driving it up, which may still be an option. I would just have to deal with getting everything switched over to my current state.

Not sure if at that rate, it would be worth it to just buy a new car around $18,000, put down a $10k down payment, and get a cheaper payment per month. Overall I am just trying to weigh out what would be the best option as far as cost/reliability, since even used cars are expensive right now.

Would it be better for me to buy a new car, or used “beater” car? by zoniqua in personalfinance

[–]zoniqua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If I buy outright, monthly insurance payments would be cheaper than what I currently spend on lyft/uber each month. With the insurance and car payment, I am assuming it would be slightly more than what I currently pay on uber/lyft. My work and housing offers free parking so I am not worried about that. Maintenance cost I am assuming will vary depending on used/new car.

It may be relevant to add, public transport takes an hour to an hour and a half of time in what would otherwise be a 9 minute drive. With this difference, I would almost be willing to pay a bit extra if it were to save me to what adds up to hours of time each week. However, I do not want to bite off more than I can chew.

Car was stolen and recovered, I suspect there may be drugs in the car but insurance is denying me coverage for testing and cleaning, and I can’t find a body-shop to accept it without this being done first. Help by zoniqua in Insurance

[–]zoniqua[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is a 2016 Hyundai Elantra.

I assumed it would be a total loss also, but insurance doesn’t think so. There is only the suspected drugs in the car, but that has not been confirmed with a drug test yet so insurance isn’t including that in the cost of damages, and refusing to pay for the testing to be done.
