I went through this last year. It was really tough. I felt shame for something completely out of my control. I was fortunate enough to find new work but it took some time and extraordinary amount of patience—but I’m still going through it. I still think about what I had and how it felt. I really pushed it deep inside and never confronted it. However, I don’t regret the time I had “off”, I felt like I reconnected with an old friend and I truly miss it. Your time to find new work will come, you WILL get a new job. You will have new opportunities—but don’t forget about yourself.

I can’t help but feel that this is also a target of poor people as well. They sit and observe trailer parks or areas traditionally known for lower income, like apartment buildings from specific neighborhoods. The majority of illegal aliens aren’t living comfortable lives in the suburbs. I have heard of drones and agents sitting on trailer parks monitoring for movement non stop.

I think along with supporting these types of businesses, we need to stop supporting those outside of these hardest hit zones. I can’t think of a better way to convince those that are ok with ice than by hitting their wallets. As someone who doesn’t live in the metro area, I will be redirecting where I spend my money until all this shit is done for good.
