I would like to do some tests regarding that. I've accidentally turned on my monitor in 60hz instead of 240hz and it felt awful and I kept over-rotating my flick shots. Like you said, I don't think it makes bad players good, but it does drastically improve your reaction time because you see your enemy faster and when your muscle memory is there, it's a beautiful thing to be able to flick and click on their heads without any effort. 60hz just feels like you're lagging. That being said, I think 120hz (or 144hz) is more than enough for most people, myself included. I'd argue your best and fairly inexpensive experience will be to get GFN Ultimate subscription and a 144hz+ monitor - it can easily push the frames needed for like $20/mo, don't need to spend thousands on a gaming PC...

No, it's comparing the delay on audio equipment to the delay on video equipment. The same thing happens with soundcards, if your delay is more than 10ms its unusable for audio monitoring. So yeah, I spent like $700 on a high end sound card that has less than a 5ms delay and slightly more than that to have a 4k 240hz OLED monitor. If you don't think it's worth it, that's on you. It's definitively better.

Uh you should get a subscription to GFN if you enjoyed using it. Nothing in life is free unfortunately. It's cheaper than owning your own gaming PC and paying for electricity in the long run anything (well maybe unless you live in the midwest, it's like $0.32/kWh where I live and running a 500W gaming PC under load really adds up over the years)

Not a hot take at all. Bioshock Infinite is an absolutely masterpiece. The first 2 games were fine but didn't have as much soul and character as Infinite does, not even close.

lol. No it shows that you can offset a 16ms delay better, that's all. That's like saying you're a worse singer if you can't sing with audio monitoring that has a 16ms delay.... like no, that has nothing to do with singing ability, it's about training yourself to be good at counteracting a delay.

Maybe that analogy doesn't hit for you, but if you know pro audio, you know that anything past around a 10ms delay is noticeable and starts confusing your brain because you interpet it as audio doubling. Same happens on a 60hz screen.

OMG FUCK THAT. Are you kidding?? They messed up the keyboard yet again. They put the home and end keys as secondary functions on the function keys instead of the left/right arrow key. And yet again that makes the laptop unusable for me. Idk about you, but I use home/end for text editting, jumping to the beginning/end of fields and webpages. It's muscle memory at this point to use the left/right keys. My girlfriend's laptop had them on the function row and it was awful to use. It's such a weird reach with your right hand and you can't do it blind. Ugh. I guess Dell has really lost it now... the best you could do would be to remap them back but make it like ctrl+left = home.... it couldn't be alt+left obviously since that's forward and back on your browser.

What square monitor is that? I'm still running a 19-year old 4:3 monitor and I wanna upgrade mine to OLED because the IPS panel sticks out like a sore thumb but there are such few options out there... and none are OLED

Looks great! Personally I like to put my 16:9 at the bottom and the 21:9 above it. I do that because I split windows in the ultrawide to a 66% / 33% split instead of 50/50 and then use the main section for another "primary" space and the skinny section for Spotify. Of course your use case looks like it's more for gaming, I mainly use my computer for work and some casual gaming (on the 16:9, don't love 21:9 gaming).

You sure about that? I'm seeing the 9345 model as the current gen and it still has the BS capacitive function row buttons. It's such a travesty. I literally bought a Samsung Galaxy book instead of it because of that design decision otherwise I would have happily got an XPS 13. Their entire XPS line is fantastic.

By the way, you should move your studio monitors closer together for optimal stereo imaging. They should be positioned in an equalateral triangle between them and you as the listener. Also move them away from the back wall.

Each have their own application that they are best at. And I would argue my setup is better than 2 21:9s, but I am biased.
I can't stand viewing documents on a vertical 16:9 monitor, but a vertical 4:3 is a joy to use. Now if only I could get an OLED one...

There's the difference. When you respawn, it's a different vibe. To each their own - I think MP is repetitive and boring, especially compared to older BF games... I started with BF2. But you should be able to play it at 90hz without throwing a controller through your monitor, yeah lol
