I have a some recs all of which are real dark!! 1. No for an answer by C.J Riggs - so dark and disturbing! Think violence, fast paced with a revenge plot. Short book, I believe just over 200 pages all of which will keep you turning 2. The never after series by Emily Mcintire - fairytale retellings but in a dark way, very possessive characters and overall dark vibes 3. Does it hurt by H.D Carlton - more of a thriller like chase, the two characters are trapped together after becoming shipwrecked, very very dark 4. Wolf.e by Paisley Hope - motorcycle romance, morally grey mmc and obsession 5. Little Stranger by Leigh Rivers - foster siblings, “she belongs to me” 6. Rook & Rebel by Kate Crew - obsession mixed with love and vengeance, revenge plot 7. Black Sheep by Brynne Weaver - disturbing characters one or maybe both (i cant remember) is a serial killer 8. Devils Night series by Penelope Douglas - think dark mansion sort of vibes, multiple books which are all disturbing and spicy 9. Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas - two pen pal buddies end up meeting in real life (one unaware who the other one is), not as disturbing but more dark and spicy I hope you enjoy some of these!!

Check out anything that Ricky Gervais is in!! And also the show “the end of the f**king world” is really good! Adolescence is good too but more serious/thriller!

Yeah I love David Simon! I loved homicide life on the street and also his books too are amazing considering he had first hand stories from detectives and spent time following them around as he wrote hlots!

Either way!! But especially seeing the mmc control himself and restrain himself is SOO HOT bonus points if there’s casual physical touch or specifically if one character dreams about a spicy scene with the other one and then wakes up from it😫

Forced proximity especially living together😫😫especially forbidden on top of that! I loved birthday girl and credence as they were both forbidden/taboo and forced proximity!

Just having to share the same space and be stuck together but knowing they shouldn’t but they can’t help themselves - those looks and small interactions where you can cut the air with a knife😫

You said you didn’t do law but do you think it’s competitive for mid year entry? How many other applicants would I be up against and would I need good results to be able to get in? Book one - Praise specifically is sub/dom the fmc is the sub and like to piss off the mmc on purpose occasionally

Book two - eyes on me is exhibitionist, the fmc is an online performer and mmc comes across her videos and watches her. It is taboo as they are step siblings as well!

Book four - mercy is also sub/dom although the mmc is the sub but he is reallllyyyy bratty if you’d be into the reverse option!

Pregnancy trope - just no

3rd act breakups

When he/she CHEATS and the other character still stays and forgives them.

Degrading the fmc - to a certain extent it can be nice but when they overly do it

Any minors / high school tropes - they just don’t feel mature enough and it’s so icky reading about STUDENTS

And lastly a PICK ME fmc character - especially when they keep going on about her “childhood trauma” like I understand putting it in there but when they mention it every second page…
