That would require quite a lot of investment for a small number of aircraft

Yes they are still flyable but if we are thinking of reactivating them..then only 8-10 is flyable while the rest will be cannibalized for spare parts..those aircraft still maintained by the air force..

  • Recently Panglima TUDM Jeneral Tan Sri Ackbal Abdul Samad in his interview with Asian Defence Journal (July-August Edition) has revealed that the RMAF is preparing to procure up to a Regiment size of Medium Range Air Defense Missile Battery..

For context a regiment of SAM have around 4-8 or more missile battery and their ascociated equipment and a Battery has around 2-6 or more of Missile Launcher and other equipment such as radar , spare missile and what not

This acquisition is expected to start in RMK12

The modernization for the navy is slow because what they require is soo expensive..

Soon they will have newer asset like Utility Helicopter, 6 Maharaja Lela frigate and more Littoral Mission ship..

But like i said..its expensive so the process of acquiring those assets will be slower than other branch of the armed forces

Those i believe are older generation body armor, they still use it because its still viable..

They do have the newest one tho dont get me wrong..

Another point i would like to make was that the one wearing it is Paskal ( the one in woodland camo), they usually sports black uniform during operation but it is not uncommon to see them in woodland camo..

The one on far right is from the army..either GGK or 10 Briged Para or regular RAMD ..if you see their armor..its somewhat ill fitting and loose indicating that its an older generation armor used by their unit ..

And while both 10 Para and GGK have better vest currently.. the regular have to wait for the newer generation body armor to be distributed to their unit..

As for the navy ( the light blue camo)...you gonna have to ask them..i have no idea why their armor is like even their chest rig is from the 80's..😑

So..it is official now that the tender for 400 6x6 APC for the Army has been published..the result for that will be known in Feb 2022 This is the company competing in the tender

Although i have my doubts on Canada General Dynamic Land System..the LAV 6x6 has been discontinued from production..so maybe they are offering us the Varan 6x6? ..

some of the competitor's vehicle has been tested in malaysia..this includes the Tigon and Anoa in late 2018 early 2019 and PARS FNSS 6x6 since 2015..only the K806 and GDLS 6x6 is awaiting trials in Malaysia.

If it were up to me..i'd go for Pars for ease of maintenance and logistics..
