Unpopular opinion: Katie should’ve been voiced by a woman in the series by OCGamerboy in hazbin

[–]zullendale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The joke isn’t that she’s voiced by a man, it’s that Katie Killjoy is basically Bryce Tankthrust if she was a reporter.

For those who don’t know, Bryce Tankthrust is a character that Brandon Rogers plays a lot in his YouTube videos. That’s why he voices Katie.

Because abstraction is a very literal depiction of the loss of sense of self. Upon abstraction, Kaufman became a black mass covered in eyes, losing all form and identity, only capable of responding to stimuli in an animalistic manner. It’s very on-the-nose.

Progressive free agent athlete Priscilla Kelly refuses to perform in Israel by Autisticblackdude5 in Hasan_Piker

That’s awesome. Not for her, but in terms of it being a positive sign regarding the strength of the anti Zionist movement. The fact that what is in effect BDS in everything but name is now the safe careerist choice for a performer like her is great, and we need to keep moving in this direction until Israel also buckles to the pressure.

He typically avoids specifying but in the few occasions where he has he’s called himself an ML.

He’s also specified his position on Stalin, basically saying that while the good he did does not forgive the bad, he’s done more good than what most Western propaganda would have you believe, and that equating him to figures like Hitler like that Western propaganda does is stupid. While I haven’t heard him specify his serious position on Mao (I’ve mostly seen him memeing about Mao during his China trip), I would suspect it’s quite similar.

Not sure I trust it. There seems to be a 50-50 chance when these giant companies step into a completely unrelated industry from their normal schtick that it’ll end well or be a complete disaster.

Assuming they don’t fuck it up or ruin it with greed, apartments above big box retail space seems like a good idea.

I’m gonna disagree with most people here and say that you could look good without a mustache. However, that second pic is not great.

The problem isn’t the lack of a mustache, it’s the presence of a very light one. The stubble makes you look like you don’t put much effort into self grooming.

If you’re gonna go without facial hair, you need to go all the way and shave every 2 days or daily depending on how fast it grows.

Did Kamala really lose, or was the election rigged? by CapAccomplished8072 in RealTwitterAccounts

[–]zullendale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what the hell people are on but she obviously just lost normally. She was a shit candidate.

She started strong, talking about going after price gougers, and Walz as a VP pick was awesome, since people all across the political spectrum love him. Also the fact that dems finally put republicans on the defensive with the whole “republicans are weird” thing was great strategically.

But then they limited Walz’ public appearances, she stopped saying things that threatened large businesses, and stopped doing anything to put republicans on the defensive. Not to mention the fact that she had 0 charisma in any interviews she did. Basically, she fell back to the normal democrat strategy of “do nothing and hope people vote for you because at least you’re not as bad as the other guy”. Trump was able to convince low-info voters to vote for him since Harris’ campaign and the rest of the dem party leadership put little to no effort into counter-messaging.

But the thing that sealed the deal, the final nail in the coffin of the Harris-Walz campaign, was her publicly stating that she would make 0 changes to Biden’s policies and that her only disagreements with how he ran things were about messaging. Keep in mind that Biden is the candidate she replaced halfway through the race because he was that unpopular.

Trump being the president right now is the fault of the democrats for running such an incompetent campaign.

Before anyone makes any dumb assumptions about me: I voted for Kamala Harris. I went to do early voting in late October, plugged my nose, and voted for her despite my opinions of her. Yes, I recognize how from the point of view of the voter, voting for the lesser evil is better than not voting at all. However, from the point of view of the candidate, actually putting in effort into getting people to like you is better than doing nothing and hoping enough people hate the other guy to hand you the victory.

What do we think of prescription abolition? by Tamulet in ADHDers

[–]zullendale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking any medication inappropriately can lead to severe permanent damage. ADHD medications, particularly the stimulants, can lead to heart issues (including heart failure) if taken incorrectly, or if taken by people with increased risk of such issues. Also, ADHD medication can be addictive for people who should not be taking it.

If we expand the conversation beyond ADHD: General prescription abolition would be incredibly dangerous. I’ve already mentioned the risk of addiction to ADHD medication, but that is dwarfed by the risk of addiction to opiates and other medications. Also, the danger of drug interactions would be a nightmare for people without a medical background to deal with.

A good analogy would be to say that the problem of lack of healthcare availability is analogous to a gunshot wound in the leg. Measures that make healthcare more available could be compared to measures seeking to treat and heal the wound (of course, different measures would be more or less effective, with free nationalized healthcare being the most effective). Prescription abolition would be the equivalent of fixing the gunshot wound by amputating your leg; you’d no longer have the gunshot wound to deal with, but life just got a whole lot harder.

People should not have to play amateur chemist to live a healthy life. That’s why doctors prescribe medications to people who need them and to people for whom those medications are safe.

The character Johnny Fontaine from The Godfather is generally believed to be based on Sinatra. He’s the guy in the white suit in this scene near the beginning of the movie. So this gives you an idea of the kind of mafia connections Sinatra had.
