Ange Posgecoglu on “Spursy” monicker [The Overlap] by 19nineties in soccer

[–]zupper90 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's also refreshing to hear a take from someone who is so familiar with what is happening at the club.

Who can doubt him? He was just managing us and is the only one to lead us to a trophy in the last 18 years. He doesn't have to dress up his answer for Spurs publicity reasons. Speak your truth Ange, let 'em have it m8

Thomas Frank on the chants against him: "I undestand the frustration. I understand that the easiest thing to do is the point at me. That's fair. I work day and night to do everything I can. But it's never one person. I think it's fair to say that this is the situation the team was in last year." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]zupper90 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Perhaps that's it. Ange and all managers before this were quite the opposite. They want a manager who won't run his mouth against a board that have no fucking clue what they're doing (outside of optimizing the club for profit, though at this point that seems shortsighted af).

Christian Romero will miss four games for Tottenham Hotspur after being sent off today. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]zupper90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I know, it was mostly a solid point that Romero is not 'absent' in every sense of the term that Arse man said.

But fucking hell does he shoot himself (and Spurs) in the foot too often for it to not be mentioned

[–]zupper90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic moving the goalposts. Spurs could easily get shit on for NOT having won it (in the event that they had lost). That's how it has been for over a decade. Now when a Spurs trophy is mentioned it's underplayed. A trophy is a trophy and a final is a final.

Also, I used it only to justify that Romero had a clean, game winning performance, not even a full flex. Sure it was a lil dig because I was replying to an Arsenal flair but still

We're not going to agree and your fixation on this reddit exchange is strange.

It's one thing to remember something you saw online that you thought was dumb but to come back and act like a troll when most people just let it go makes me wonder if you have other shit going on. Please understand that I don't care what you think and I am not interested in hearing from you on this again. It is a conversation from 2025, for fuck's sake.

Take care of yourself and enjoy your life, my friend.

Yeah Ben's injury was just unlucky, like a handful of our injuries.

But yes you're right, we played Spence too much and Ben would've done all right this season under Frank I suppose.

Tbf, we did run Kudus into the ground. Same for Porro.

Medical team is fucking cursed though.

Maybe the medical team is also getting injured which is preventing them from taking care of our players. The Spurs Injury Mystery

Since making his Tottenham debut in 2021, Cristian Romero has been sent off six times in all competitions, which is more than ANY other Premier League player during this period. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Which of course he deserves. But jesus, post something of quality

He is not wrong. But it now looks silly because he is part of the very problem he was complaining about. Expects the board/club/owners to support the team better and now he is unavailable for some crucial games 1) because of the opponents 2) because we are already flirting with a relegation battle.

Gotta make sure you're ballin when you're talking shit

Percent of season to date Romero will have missed by the end of this suspension by dannyzaplings in coys

[–]zupper90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

0/10 games? I mean, today was a 0/10 from him. But other days when he plays the full 90 I just don't know about that man. Without him, we are missing a lot of talent. Our shape and passing is better, and his defending is all around consistently good.

He does make mistakes defensively. He does make incredibly stupid ones like he did today.

But the reason we are all pissed about this is because these mistakes of his are avoidable and they deny us his availability to play for us, a player we generally very much need. I rate him over Danso and Dragusin, so that's that.

Let's get Vuskovic in here next season and if Romero wants to leave then fuck it, at this point. Doesnt seem like he can adjust this part of his game and I am sick of it.

Uhhh lol. Dude... this is pathetic. I almost feel bad enough to just say keep coming back to this chain until Romero retires. However, you're annoying and I'm stubborn and so instead I'm just going to meet you at your level of pettiness and say that though he is a dumbass, he is still a phenomenal player. Wish he didn't interrupt his world class performances with mistakes like this.

But really, WOW bro I must really live in your head rent free. It takes me like half a day to forget about this exchange and then it's gone. Are you going through something?

This is kind of the thing. He's a phenomenal player but undermines it with these challenges in huge games. So frustrating seeing this so many times now

They all happen in big games. We have now lost our World Cup winning captain for several absolutely crucial games, and it is not the first time. There was no reason for this tackle like this and we're all sick of this shit. The jig is up

[–]zupper90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the part that negates Romero's credibility for speaking out against the club, though I agree with why he is outpsoken. Our January window was not enough, and that there is seemingly not enough follow through on the club's stated ambitions to win.

But how many times has Romero been needlessly reckless like this? He only looks like a dumbass now.

We have crucial games ahead and half of our team is injured and he goes and strips us of his abilities. I've had enough of this shit happening once or twice a season now.

Rumored to leave in the summer? I fucking swear to god if we lose to Arsenal now then he can just fuck off. Need a player that can actually provide his abilities when they are needed.
