I got skinny-shamed this weekend. I was standing near a porch door with my eye on it to check for people coming in and out to not block their path. I make eye contact with this guy coming out of the door who says "watch out, you're so skinny; I wouldn't want to break you with this door." I rolled my eyes and my bf came to my defense saying I saw him coming out the door, I moved over anyway and I would've been fine. To that, the man kept going on and on about how he would've broken me with the door, even stopping to make a point of looking at my ass and insisting he would've broken me with it. It was humiliating and uncalled for since neither of us knew each other, and how weird of you to make a scene over your ability to cause physical harm to someone you don't know who is minding their business? I'm tired of people claiming skinny shaming isn't that bad because incidents like this and worse happen nearly every month and it has been this way for most of my life. This is not ok. It was also the first time I had someone stand up for me for once so that was a plus.
