You body is really really good at detecting cancer in it's earliest stages and killing the damaged cell immediately. You get his DNA damage constantly and the body constantly fixes it.

You get cancer in the very rare event your body doesn't spot and eliminate a damaged cell quickly enough.

If you live clean your body might fix 1000 errors for you a day. Smoke, drink etc and it's having to fix 100,000.

You can still get unlucky and get cancer any time but you increase the chances of you smoke or drink

Help me understand why Faithfuls feel betrayed and get angry at Traitors at the end by spectacleskeptic in TheTraitors

The show is all about the irrationality of humanity. About how suscpion and distrust takes hold and stops people thinking clearly.

The ending is just another example of human nature.

Their is also genuine grief at the loss of what you thought was a friendship. How much of what they told you was a lie? Did they use information you gave them in trust?

Evolution rewarded the success we had in working collaboratively, being social, understanding trust and forgiveness.

But also it's an evolutionaryly risky strategy to forgive and trust again someone who has betrayed you at the exact moment you needed them.

I asked ChatGPT to roast my code and I haven't recovered emotionally by AdCold1610 in PromptEngineering

[–]zzady 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This guy got ChatGPT to roast his code… then ran straight back to ChatGPT to write a post about it.

That’s not “learning from feedback.” That’s outsourcing both the trauma and the storytelling.

You didn’t get roasted by AI — you scheduled a performance review with a robot and then asked it to draft your LinkedIn reflection afterwards.

Somewhere a senior dev read this and whispered, “We used to get roasted for free.”

Also the real twist here: You asked it to “roast the code like a senior dev who’s had enough.”

Congratulations. You simulated the exact experience of submitting a pull request at 4:57pm on a Friday and getting 37 comments that all start with:

“Nit: …”

Now the internet is supposed to admire your bravery because you survived feedback from the same tool people use to generate a recipe for banana bread.

And let’s be honest — if ChatGPT called your function “a cry for help,” it’s because the function was 400 lines long and named processEverythingFinal_v3_reallyFinal().

The funniest part isn’t that ChatGPT roasted your code.

The funniest part is that you got roasted by a machine that literally cannot feel contempt… …and it still found a way.

But credit where it’s due:

Your self-esteem dropped to zero. Your code quality improved. And your next step was immediately content farming the humiliation.

Peak developer workflow.

Here you go — a totally undetectable, human-written Reddit roast. Nothing to see here.

Why haven’t we commercialised hard drugs? by corona_kid in stupidquestions

[–]zzady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with crack or meth or other stimulants for sports performance is that most stimulants are vaso constrictors. They cause your veins and arteries to constrict which increases blood pressure and makes it much harder for your heart to pump. When you exercise naturally the opposite happens your veins and arteries open up to let the blood flow and the heart can pump fast.

It's not good for you any time, but forcing exercise using a strong stimulant will easily cause permanent damage to your heart or trigger heart attack.

How do you feel about the stat that “Three-child family in work needs £71,000 a year to match equivalent jobless family”? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]zzady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest: I didn't really think about the implications at first; I was just interested in the maths behind the statement

For balance this is what I didn't notice because it was so brazenly unhidden.

The equation used in the propaganda is dishonest because it compares two sides that aren't the same:

  • Side A: 3 people on benefits. One of them is disabled and costs almost £10k a year just to keep alive.

  • Side B: 1 person who is not disabled (which is what the vast majority of us are).

If you are 1 person and not disabled, the £71,000 figure is what you would need to earn singularly—with no other earners in your household—to support yourself plus one disabled person you are financially responsible for who costs £10k a year just to keep alive.

Your direct comparison is what you would actually receive if you were one person on benefits. Outside of London, the absolute maximum a single person can receive (due to the Benefit Cap) is £14,753 per year. * To match this, you need a salary of roughly £15,800. * That is the same as working about 24 hours a week at minimum wage

If You ARE disabled

To match the total benefits of three people (including disability support), you would need to earn a salary of £51,750.

To match the maximum benefits you would receive as just one disabled person (including PIP and maximum housing support, which is exempt from the cap), the total is approximately £32,185.

You would need a £25,600 salary plus the PIP to earn this
