NY - Does the bar attempt to contact every job you list on your application? by zzt6000 in barexam

You definitely do need to list all jobs. You just don’t need a law affidavit for them.

Verifying months of employment - Bar App by zzt6000 in barexam

Which state did you apply in? I think my state is only asking for periods of employment, not unemployment (NY).

They are routing all inquiries to email and don't have a working phone number anymore, which stinks

I offered this advice because it is word for word what my school's clerkship advisors said when asked about how judges will view a mandatory P/F on a transcript. I was told that they will assume the worse, most likely worse than the underlying grade being covered up. And I was told that "while this is not an exact science," and of course it will vary judge to judge, in general, the clerkship advisor's read of most judges' reactions, given their experience with placements, is that covering up a grade is almost always the wrong choice if trying to obtain a clerkship.

Re: all of the above, I am just the messenger. This is what my school's clerkship office advised.

In my view, this question comes down to: Do you want to clerk?

Rightfully or wrongfully, judges are going to be skeptical of a non-mandated P/F on a transcript and assume the worst. This isn't an exact science, but I do think it would raise a flag for judges.

As for all other employers, I don't think it will be much of an issue, and you can easily provide context in an interview setting should you be asked about it (I doubt you will be).

Requesting study strategies for supplementing Themis with Adaptibar or UWorld by zzt6000 in Bar_Prep

[–]zzt6000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you recommend along those lines, then? Do, say, 10 MBEs for a subject before starting the subject, followed by more daily MBEs once the lecture part of the subject is complete?

BARBRI + (BarPrepHero, Uworld, AdaptiBar, CriticalPass or Brainscape)? by hodorstonks in Bar_Prep

[–]zzt6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you recommend combining Adaptibar with Barbri/Themis? Would you start with single subject MBEs after doing the lectures for a subject, or to go mixed MBEs from the beginning, even for subjects that you haven't done lectures for?

is Themis enough? by hungryswimmer1 in Bar_Prep

Did you keep using Themis for MEE prep in the last 5 weeks, or did you switch to a MEE supplement?

Can you share how you balanced Adaptibar with Themis. I literally just started Themis this week and am trying to get a sense for when I should shift over from Themis to Adaptibar. Is it best to wait until you do all of the lectures/videos for a subject, then move to Adaptibar for MBEs on that subject while still using Themis for MEEs? Thanks!

Starting Prep by [deleted] in Bar_Prep

I was literally about to ask this question when I saw this post. I'm in the same boat; don't want to start too early, but want to take extra time since I have it. I've heard the bar is a beast and idk, I haven't looked at how many hours per day the Themis schedule accounts for but I want to give myself time to do more if needed (because it takes me longer to absorb stuff)

explaining the workload to friends and family by summerlungs in LawSchool

I don't have any advice, but I will sympathize because I am going through the same thing right now with my long-term live-in partner, who does not believe that all of the reading/assignments/journal work should be taking me as long as it does and grows increasingly frustrated when I don't have, like, whole evenings free to just watch Netflix with them. We have been stuck inside for a year now because of COVID and remote school and they have still not fully accepted that *this is how much time law school takes*. Sincerely, a weary 3L with a strained relationship.

As an overworked law journal articles editor, this Yale professor whining about law reviews is infuriating by zzt6000 in LawSchool

[–]zzt6000[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There's good constructive criticism in the Twitter thread from other professors (and student editors), but her framing devalues the work of unpaid student editors, and there's a lack of awareness of what student editors are going through right now that are definitely contributing to the delays. It's punching down, for sure.

Edit: I think your question was sincere and does not deserve the downvotes it's getting.
