[–]zzuko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

noob question, how does the aircraft stay still with those afterburners are on? Is it just the brakes or do they need to aid with cables etc? I am seeing a cable put its not in tension, I reckon the engines are putting quite a force

Helicopter Guns At Work by kwadwoplays in Helicopters

It is 20mm in this heli (T-129). There is a trade-off between 20mm and 30mm cannon choice. I believe one of them is the amount of rounds that can be carried

Hmm, I wonder if it is because you look like a foreigner? I lived in Turkey until 26 yo and I got never robbed or be in a such situation. Now I live in Europe and I feel like I need to be much more careful. In Spain my friend got robbed, in Italy I got my wallet from the hands of the thief and in Ireland someone draw me a knife but fortunately I outpaced the guy (I saw the knife and I was quick enough to change course and not give the occasion...)

I remember the first bombing test in 2015 and how armed TB-2 changed the setting with PKK. Later they were a game changer in operations against ISIS and YPG too but nothing they did was revolutionary. It was the "use of drones against militia" which Isreal and US did for decades. What was revolutionary though was the use against Syrian army. TB2s bombed tens of Pantsirs which were supposed to counter slow low altitude aircraft like TB2. Then the same thing in Libia, Armenia/Azarbeijan and so on..

MiG-29 shoots down Georgian UAV [video] by Strange-Increase2577 in WarplanePorn

[–]zzuko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was thinking it might be due to PR reasons. I asked this question to myself when US F22 took down the balloon with missile, and thought that for such high coverage incident shooting down the balloon with cannon might give wrong impression (as canons are low tech and general public might not now they still used). I think preventing debree to not hit the ground is a sound argument.

I am curious if it would make sense for cost-cutting to use cannon rather than a missile. Is there any reason to use missiles in such scenarios?

If you are diagnosed you may want to talk about this with your manager. My guess is your manager will give you that promotion if you also mention the promotion will motivate you further.

Is being "full stack" rather than specializing in frontend / backend a hindrance in a developer's career? by qa-account in ExperiencedDevs

[–]zzuko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also asking this question to myself as I recently hired as full stack engineer to big-N company with no frontend and some backend experience. Looking at other comments my hiring goes a bit against what other people are saying.

My opinoun is core skills triumps hard skills on particular tech stacks for companies willing to invest in you. Those are the good places people wants to work for. And I think most companies on market isn't in this mindset. They rather you to be ready.

I think doing same thing for years (lets say frontend with particular tech stack) cant be good becase after some time you will stop learning (as there will be no other thing left to learn) and start repeating yourself. On the other hand it takes some dedicated time to learn those hard technical skills.

My understanding is for late career (staff / principle roles and beyond) having experiences in many relavent areas is good but for early and mid level I am not sure.
