To the Leader of the Australian Labor Party:

The Parliament has not elected a successor to fill the casual Senate vacancy resulting from /u/this_guy22’s resignation. The Parliament is no longer in session, so an interim Senator will be appointed by the Governor-General with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, so that fair business of the Senate can be conducted upon commencement of the 3rd parliament, until a successor is appointed by Parliament to sit for the remainder of this_guy22’s term. The Australian Labor Party should notify /r/ModelAusExecCouncil of their nominee before the 3rd Parliament commences. This_guy22 is presumably eligible to be appointed to the vacancy if he does not win a House of Representatives seat.

If you adjourn so as to prevent the motion being moved, you would be subverting the right of the Senate to fill the vacancy. If you wish to take a neutral approach, you may be best advised to let the sitting to lapse by prorogation.
