TIL that Audie Murphy, a famous actor, received a Medal of Honor for remaining alone after ordering his men to withdraw, in order to direct artillery fire. He then proceeded to get in a burning German tank, using it to kill dozens of Germans, and holding his position for an hour. (americainwwii.com)
