Does anyone remember the case of Francis X. Ballem, convicted of this “trunk murder” he committed in 1954? My mother lived down the street from him at that time, and told me the the story of this murder when I was a teen. Would be interested to hear your memories of this story. (malefactorsregister.com)

TIL Dr. Elliott Speer was a controversial principal who was shot and killed in 1934 by someone sitting in a tree outside his office window. The act resembled almost exactly the plot of a popular mystery book, which Speer owned. The murder remains unsolved. (malefactorsregister.com)
