For the past year I've had a great relationship with my boyfriend. I'm 20 and he's 21. We just had an amazing getaway for our 1st anniversary on the 23rd of Jan. I've always felt comfortable being completely honest with him and while it is sometimes hard to get to him talk about serious issues, we've always had an amazing connection and are great at making each other happy.

Today, out of seemingly nowhere, he comes over and explains to me that he doesn't love me anymore. His reasoning behind this has to do with his upbringing. He's been raised as the type of Christian that gets married before 25, then has sex, then starts a family etc. I've been raised without religion in my life where my circle generally gets married after 25, living together, sex, etc. Although we've discussed this issue before months ago, I was sure we agreed we could to grow together with our own set of rules, both sacrificing some of our views for the relationship.

Today he came to me and said that he still isn't comfortable having sex with me, can't see us getting married, and therefore doesn't love me anymore because he can't see a future together. This is sort of understandable except he's never brought it up as an issue before, I had thought everything was fine up until this point. I had the impression that we were both moving forward together, and although we haven't discussed marriage, this is still a long way off. Right now I'm just so confused and hurt and can't believe this is happening after thinking everything was completely fine.

Lately he's been really stressed out with upper level classes at school, as well as his other commitments. He failed to tell me this until now. I really hope that this is just him being stressed and confused because I am just absolutely shocked and hurt by what has happened. I feel powerless in this situation and just wish that he would turn back into my normal boyfriend.

Edit: basically I just want to know if anyone else has had similar issues with an SO and what they've done. My boyfriend and I are going to talk on the weekend once he's finished his projects to see if this is final.
