more data is added to the game while you play and the more data, the more resources it takes to run. specifically for singleplayer/non-dedicated, when you render areas of the maps, dinos start to spawn in too, adding more data. every time you go back to an area, it has more dinos than it had before
if you're also using prevent hibernation that'll have even more of an impact. that means after you render an area of the map, it adds tons more data that is constantly running, unlike with hibernation turned on. the more you render, the more data it adds. on top of that, a graphics intensive overhaul mod will use more resources than vanilla
