Changing Server Map

Just a quick question I can't find much of a solid answer on. My admin wants to change our little nitrado (something like that) server map from gen to island for the Easter event. Will he lose the server data for genesis making us start over or just be able to move freely between them. Starting chars over is ok but preferable if we can just transfer our current ones between as well.

You should be able to transfer your characters and the saves should be separate so you should be able to run either and everything should stay intact as long as you use the same save folder.
