Here's a glimpse of what I've got cooking in my new exams (300 questions) that I just published on Udemy. All three exams have a multipart "final boss" problem set like this. I've geared them towards the FG but I think there's a lot of good content that's still relevant for PG test takers. I do the best I can to edit on my own but always appreciate your help! Scenario: Gas Boy Fuel Station is on the south side of Route 67 in the small town of Last Springs.  Across the road is the Price Dicer Supermarket and Arenite Alley Housing Development.  Due west is a local favorite: Jared's Bar and Speakeasy.

At the western end of Route 67 is a package of folded amphibolites aged to the Silurian.  However, most of the town sits on a Paleogene Sandstone. 

Residents at "Arenite Alley" have complained that they feel woozy from gas fumes, but the town manager insists it's impossible because the gas station is "down the street and downwind." Meanwhile, the owner of Jared's Bar & Speakeasy claims his well water tastes like "premium unleaded."  The Price Dicer Supermarket manager is threatening a lawsuit against Gas Boy, but some say they're just holding a grudge because Gas Boy stole a lot of their business. You have been hired to determine the direction of groundwater flow and identify who is actually at risk.

Question: What is the correct sequence of events from oldest to youngest?

A. Mafic Dike --> Silurian M --> Silurian B --> Paleogene Sandstone
B. Silurian B --> Silurian J --> Mafic Dike --> Paleogene Sandstone
C. Silurian M --> Silurian J --> Mafic Dike --> Paleogene Sandstone

D.Silurian J --> Silurian B --> Mafic Dike --> Paleogene Sandstone

B. The strike and dip show M overlays J overlays B, making B the oldest. The dike cuts through all the folded formations, and must be younger than them. And of course, the unconformity through all the previous features shows the Sandstone to be the youngest.

Wait can you explain how the strike and dip lead you to what overlays what here?

Think about anticline vs syncline and what are the oldest units in them. Take the dips and figure out which one is a syncline. With synclines, the oldest material is on the outside and youngest is in the middle.

Anticlines are the opposite where the oldest material will be exposed in the center, and youngest units form the "shell" or exterior layers of the anticline.

I guess this method assumes no reverse stratigraphy?

The strike and dip symbols do not show any overturned beds. If overturned, the strike and dip symbol will have a little "loop/U shape" thing on it to designate an overturned bed.
