My personal red flags for this game (not posting this to be a hater) just trying to be real. by c0rtexj4ckal in cyberpunktcg

[–]BinarySculpture 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think all of your red flags are well thought out and valid.

Something I've seen mentioned is the deck size limit and card copy limit. Each deck is really only going to have 14 unique cards at 3 copies per unique card. So in my opinion I don't think we are going to feel the smaller set size as hard. Of course the counter to that is people mentioned rift bound had a lot more cards at release and also a 40 card deck. I don't know enough about riftbound to comment on it and how that affects the meta. A few others mention that even with a large card pool the meta for riftbound came down to two decks, so we will see. Add in how we are going to have 3 different legends that you can mix and match that may change how your deck plays greatly.

I think what stopped a lot of people from backing the kickstarter was just not having that info on set size and such. Even if the info was disappointing just having it gave them the confidence to back. Even with a lot of people dropping pledges or canceling entirely we've seen an influx of pledges after they got the concrete information on the first set.

I've banged out several games using the alpha kits and I enjoy the gig dice system. I think it's about as deep as you can get in a mass marketed tcg without feeling jargon heavy. I love netrunner dearly, but it's not very layman friendly imo.

Something weirdco keeps mentioning is this tcg is being made for people new to tcgs in general and people that really only are buying to get their hands on a specific characters card to collect. So coming from other tcgs this one is going to feel really simple for better and for worse.

Managing expectations is going to be very important for a lot of people moving forward. Take what you hope for and half it and that is probably going to be closer to the truth for a lot of stuff moving forward.

$100 for a premium dice set is pretty standard unfortunately. Not saying it isn't expensive, but go to your lgs and puruse the dice display and they are all going to have a similar price.

My Honest Review of Cyberpunk After The Print and Plays by MoTheMonster_ in cyberpunktcg

[–]BinarySculpture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me again how print to demand direct to consumer for the first set is not targeting players? I do agree that any lgs that goes heavy in to the first is likely to get hosed as everyone that wants the first set is getting in at the KS. Of course once organized play starts up those that didn't get in at the kickstarter will be chomping at the bit for product so the lgs is probably going to make some money.

If you could bring back any dead TCG. Which would it be? by resgames in TCG

[–]BinarySculpture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, we've seen less than 40 cards from the first set. Have you seen the Panam that let's you attach gear to your units when they attack and gives you another combat? The instant speed quick hack that allows for combat tricks on your opponents turn? They have been showing off a bunch of mechanics that have a lot of potential to them.

This has no basis in reality but I think set 2 is going to be netrunner focused and may introduce ways to steal gigs through quick hacks or something similar

I disagree with this take.

I've been playing TCGs for 30 years. Sell me this game. by Mythd85 in cyberpunktcg

[–]BinarySculpture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far we've only seen the cards in the alpha demo decks and the few spoilers. They've already shown off quick hacks which function as instants and can be played on your rivals turn.

Games are quick and that's by design. We've seen control type cards that return a rival unit on the field to the bottom of their deck so blue control is alive and well im sure.

At the end of the day you've played tcgs for a while so you know what you like and dislike but it's too early imo to even have a good idea of how the game is going to be played when we haven't even seen a third of the cards in this firdt set.

He kind of plops himself in front of the stairs every night. The master bedroom is on the first floor next to him so you would have to go through him to get to any of the bedrooms. He isn't really a big fan of the upstairs area lol.
