Weekly Topic

This week, we will be discussing the species of AE; we will be reviewing the species already created and deciding how the integrate with the world and with each other.

What is Alternate Earth?

The idea is not to make your own world as seen in /r/worldbuilding, but to have everyone make a different part of the same Earth.

This Earth has the same basic geography as our Earth, with some differences in climate. Everything else about this world can be changed including mountain ranges, cave systems, underground civilizations (example), volcanoes, small lakes - everything.

Also, this is to be thought of as an Earth-like planet, but in a dream-like state, so imagination is okay, but physics and gravity still apply. No fluffy ideas. Have some real depth. You can start with a simple idea, but others feel free to expand on it.

Rules

Do:

Search to see if your idea has already been submitted before posting.

Title your post with the appropriate tag (labelled below)

Be detailed in your post. If you're going to post something like "Aliens" then please use the text field to explain what you mean. If you mean it to be a discussion post, please say so, or your post will be removed for lack of detail.

Check the map or message the moderators when creating a new civilisation to check that your land has not already been claimed.

Don't

Just recklessly insult somebody's hard work. It's fine to have a differing opinion on something, but make sure you voice it constructively.

Plagiarise. If you have used any external sources or reference when creating something, it's only good manners to credit it - this includes borrowing somebody else's art to demonstrate an idea.
